I was trying to locate some tail numbers in the database and the only numbers I had were the ones physically painted on the tail without the leading 0, 1, 2, etc. that's in the official tail number. Any chance of adding a wildcard function to the database search block so I don't have to go thru each permutation of the tail number? As an example, I was looking for "81-114" (the number physically on the tail). Instead of doing searches on 81-0114, 81-1114, 81-2114, etc., or manually scrolling thru the database listing, it would be a lot easier to just enter something like "81-*114".

Or is there already a wildcard and I'm just not aware of it? Embarassed

Thanks for your consideration! Thanks

Very easy. It already exist. You can search the databse on each field it contains. Since there is also a 'local serial number' available, you can also search that one. You should have just typed '81114' without the hyphen in between.

I just did a quick search on that one and it doesn't exist. What happened a lot in the seventies and eighties, is that the serial that was displayed was not completely in accordance with the official serial number. So I presume that your search should be for serial '78-1114' or '78114' if you like.

Greets,

You can also just enter "114" - it will return anything containg 114, so you'll get 81-114, 81114, or 1440.

So basically the system will automatically add a wildcard in front and at the back of your string, 114 is actually *114*.

I know this is still not ideal cause you get too many results, but at least you only have to do one search Smile

I'll keep your idea in mind for the next update though!
