Ok. What you see is supposedly USAF F-16A (note that it not has the ECM anttena just before the vertical stabilzer) carring the Have-Lite AGM (Smaller version of the AGM-142 'Popeye', both made by 'Rafael') . I also noted the 'weird' S/N.
I couldn't find anything about that one in the serial database.
Now, my question is: could the F-16A carry such an advanced A-G ammo?
I doubt it.
Any help will be apreciated.

Hi Deepspace,
The FY is not 80 as you can see on the bird but is 78. Sometimes they do that? Why? Nobody knows.
Second, as you can see, and as Mark already stated, it's a testbird from Edwards. Testbirds are rare examples of F-16's. Probably they are wired and equipped to carry everything that can be tested from Edwards. I don't know for sure off course, but it wouldn't surprise me that this original block 10 aircraft now carries the same hardware and mission software as the latest block 50 airframes. So yes, they are able to carry this kind of advanced ordonance.

| ET is Eglin Test (not Edwards = ED) - the F-16A in the photo is part of the armament test wing at Eglin AFB in Florida. Many FY 78 birds show thier sernos as 80, for instance 78-0001 might be painted on the tail as 80001. Confusing but not unusual. |

Here is a good link to the HAVE LITE / F-16 Flight Test news release:
http://www.rafael.co.il/web/rafnew/news/news-281102.htm
And yes "ET" is Eglin Test (Operational Test and Evaluation-white stripe with red diamonds), whereas "ED" is Edwards (Developmental Test and Evaluation-dark blue stripe, with white X's).
DeepSpace also stated "(note that it not has the ECM anttena just before the vertical stabilzer)". I assume what was meant , was that there was no upper UHF antenna just before the vertical stab. There aren't any ECM antennae up there. Some on the rear of the vertical stab, and some behind the teardrops by the AOA probes on this block. And BTW, all the ECM antennae are referred to as "Radar Threat Warning System-RTWS antennae" |
