In a time where we have a, No_General_Left_Behind_Act ( in my day a full colonel was good enough to run a SAC nuke Wing of B-52s, and tankers )... we have more officers vs enlisted than any other time after massive downsizing I think DOD now we are close or getting close to a 5-1 ratio of officer to enlisted I haven't looked lately but besides generals, we have an high amount of O-6 colonels too..... We send all these guys to super duper uber war college schools of all flavors for uber managment and leadership issues.... AND at the end of the day... pay some contractor to do a fighter study on what the airframe numbers should be. We sure know how to waste money. I must admit though, watching some of these morons make decisions, has a certain entertainment value. EP

Here is some fun reading England Launches New Fighter Review
Quote:
In an Aug. 4 memo to the service Secretaries, England said he had commissioned a study headed by the firm of Whitney, Bradley, & Brown, Inc., to “facilitate greater optimization of tactical aircraft.” The goal of the study, England said, will be to “identify capabilities and efficiencies” resulting from rationalizing “Air Force, Navy, Marine, National Guard, and Reserve TACAIR.” The company will have support from the vice chiefs of staff of the services and report directly to England and the vice chairman of the Joint Chiefs.
