Wow a whole new modeling forum here just for the F-16, so i have to post my own little F-16 group build here.

I'm building 5 F-16's right now. 3 Revell kits and 2 Hasegawa all in 1:72:
  • Revell F-16 Mlu, will be build as a F-16A from RNLAF 316 sqn 40 years anniversary bird.
  • Revell F-16B, will be build as a F-16BM from RNLAF 313 sqn
  • Revell F-16C Block 50/52, will be build as a Block 40 from Aviano
  • Hasegawa F-16C, will be build as F-16AM from BAF, FA-93 OT&E MLU bird and last a
  • Hasegawa F-16D, will be build as a MJ bird from the PACAF.
I got a lot of in progress pics that i already have posted on ARC, so i'm going to give you the link from my photobucket page where they are so you can take a look:
http://photobucket.com/albums/v248/Madv ... ing001.jpg

if you want to read the progress i made so far you can read my ARC post, for those that are interested:

Well there already painted up for a little bit but here is what already did on the birds.

I did major work on the cockpit form the Hasegawa F-16C, i removed the glares hield and replaced it with a revell one, so that i could install a revell intrument panel, i got a spareseat from a revell F-16 so that one was installed also. The birdslicers parts from the revell kit was placed on the nose after carving up the nose from the hasegawa bird. This was one of the major things a did on the planes. Also placed a Belgian Air Force style tail on it. The PW engine on the bird came alos from a revell kit and i had to do some sanding work to make it fit.

I added ram plates at the flaps and horizontale stabs on the birds that needed it and the strengthening plates on the Aviano block 40 F-16, there is pic of it showing some of them are placed worng but that is already repaired.

I made my own smokewinders for the BAF F-16AM from spare sparrow missiles, Eduard PE sidewinder fins and a nose from scratch plastic

Most work is done on the Hasegawa F-16 cause they have left over parts from the revell ones like weapon pylons and wheels.

Well that's about it for now. After this post i will update it with new pictures of my progress.

Sure.

The book is called: "F-16, 25 jaar in dienst van de KLu", it's dutch book

ISBN: 90-6013-265-3

This covers the special schemes on the F-16's that have served in the past 25 years the F-16 was in service with the RNLAF. You can almost every demo, they didn't include J-055 the new demo cause he wasn't there yet. You also see al anniversary birds and other things like squadron rivalry.

It's is really a great and fun book cause it also gives background information on the special schemes.

Ok first big post of the progress. Yesterday i painted the dark top colour on the F-16's. The undersides are already painted. Have now 2 of the 3 colours on the birds. Weel the Aviano has a two tone scheme so he has all colours on him Wink

When that was done and it was dry i glued the HUD for the Hasegawa F-16D in the cockpit, glued the canopy hinge on the inside of the canopy and then glued it to the fuslegae, it will be the only F-16 with closed canopy.

When that was al done i started adding 4 of the 5 tails to the F-16's. THe tail for the RNLAF F-16A isn't glued to the fuselage cause i need to paint it 4 different colurs and i have to masked it and that works better if it's not on the model.

At this point i also started adding the TER's on the birds that had them, 1 on the Has F-16D and two on the RoG F-16C Aviano bird.

My spare time between paintjobs a spent on working on the weapons and tanks.
Here is a pic with the missiles, JDAM's and lantirn systems i'm putting on the birds.

And here you can see the tanks i'm putting on the planes, smokewinders, SUU-20 and ECM pods.

Only thing missing of the weaponry are the four CBU-87's and the AMCI pod i'm using.

That's it for now. Next up the birds will be prepared for the painting of the tails and the rest of the planes.

Started yesterday with closing the gaps between the tails i put on the birds. Cause that has to dry i strated installing the aft canopy pieces on the Revell single seat F-16's.

After that i started decalling the tanks, lantirn pods and the amraams. They were already futured a day before. The lantirn pods were from the Hasegawa weapons set. I painted them with Revell 77, aplied future on them and then came on the decals.
AN/AAQ-14

AN/AAQ-13

After that i started on the wing tanks. 2 sets from the Revell F-16's and one set of the Hasegawa. On the wing tanks that gonna be on the Aviano bird i placed Astra decals for the fuel caps. I also checked the daco books for placement cause the instructions from revell had some inaccuries in them. I also need to modify the little wings on the hasegawa wing tanks.

After that i started on the 2 sets of amraams i'm putting on 2 birds. First the training ones for the RNLAF F-16BM. Decals from them came from the Revell F-16C kit, the blue stripes are a bit long and i need to cut them to leave a open pace for the bulge on the missiles. The live ones are from the Hasegawa weapons kit, decals to. These stripes are also a bit to long and need to cut them to length later on just like the revell ones. These live amraam are gonna be on the USAF F-16C from Aviano

That's all for today folks

And some new progress.

I'm in the progess of painting the planes and it is steadily coming along. All colours are on the bird know and it's just a mather of touching up.

Besides this i'm doing some minor works on the loss part like the canopies. I've painted the inside of the canopy black.

The Tail from the Dutch J-142 i'm painting is coming along to, all 4 colours are on the tail and i only have to touch it up that it has a perfectly straight(As possible Rolling Eyes ) paint job.

This is the J-142 from the RNLAF that i'm gonna make:
http://www.f-16.net/PhotoGallery/album13/bbs.sized.jpg

Beside al of this i also worked on the weapons. I've decalled the JDAM's, little dcals that say JDAM on it, and the ACMI pod, only the colour of the number on the ACMI pod are not the right colour but i don't care cause they look neat.

Further i decalled the ECM pods, the ALQ-184 is from the Hasegawa weapons sets and the ALQ-131 is from the Revell F-16C kit.

After this i've tried to place the engine decals from the Astra Decal sheet for the GE engine on the Hasegawa F-16D. With the daco book i tried to get them on the right place and i hope i succeded with this. Cause the decals give a nice touch to the engine.

Well the RNLAF is testing the JDAM's on there planes. And they uses this colour. I'm gonna load out my F-16BM from the RNLAF 313 sqn with the same load out as the has with there F-16 that tests the JDAM, like this:

http://www.airliners.net/open.file/887256/L/

Only i'm not gonna place a ALQ-131 pod on my model.

But i have a quick question. What is the colour of the nav lights at the right wing tip launcher. Green like the the one on the intake?

Just remember this rule of thimb.... port is red, starboard is green, aft is white. This true for ALL aircraft, not matter what they are. It's an international standard. So yes, the nav lights on the right wing AND intake are green Wink

Ok thanks. When i paint the nav light i always use silver and the clear colour needed. That gives a really nice effect to the lights.
