Not to mention that the NORMAL COMMUNICATION NETWORKS wouldnt survive under USAF/USN EW attack simply because they arent meant to take jamming and other disruptive EW warfare techniques/technologies...Commercial technologies arent last that way as military technologies would...

Page 245 of November 2005 Air and Space magazine's story on the Raptor quotes the pilot as having "seen targets beyond 320 miles".

They must be talking about the range of the display when information is coming from the data link.
The USAF stated a couple months ago, that it intends to decrease the maximum radar range of the F-22 from 120 miles down to 108 miles! This small reduction is to greatly enhance the probability of enemy ESM characterizing the signal as static or random noise.

One thing that gets me is that most people feel that radars designers will find the "key" to detecting RAM coated weapon systems. The designers of RAM coating are also working to make their product more stealthy and less susceptible to a wider range of frequencies.

No, I'm talking about the pilot seeing the target on the radar at a range of beyond 320 miles. That's what the article states anyway. He didn't give the size of the target but it was not data linking. The AN APG 77 is an extremely powerfull radar. To think it has a maximum range of 120 or 108 miles goes against everything I've read about the project, and all it's press releases.

If I'm not mistaken your talking about the Low Probability of Intercept maximum range, not the maximum for the Radar on full power . 120 miles is the range typically given for the system in LPI. JL Raleigh NC

True. The range quoted by "Bam Bam" Stapleton in the Air & Space mag interview of the APG-77 is the unclassified range.
