Yeha, that's the Don Color site. Been around a long time, but beware, not all the color schemes are correct.

Whoa! Hey Jens! Talk about hearing from the horses mouth... Wink
There's a couple of them that aren't accurate. The Venezuelan Viper for one. The tan and light green color aren't correct.

Hey Jens
Glad you found your way here! Here's a question for you:
Your site lists the colors for the F-16 Aggressor Flanker scheme as FS 35109, 35450 and 36270, which represents the current Flanker scheme. There was an earlier Flanker scheme from the early to mid 90's that used a lighter blue and gray. The re-released Hasegawa 1/48 F-16 Aggressor kit depicts that scheme, but I don't think the colors listed in the instruction sheet are right - would you know the correct FS numbers for the light blue and gray?
Thanks!

Hi HABU, hi FOX! Smile

Sorry for the late answer, but I had problems signing in Sad

HABU:
OK, the colors are wrong, what are the correct ones? Wink

FOXONE:
All I know about the F-16 Flancer Schemes is what I have on my Page Sad
I will see if I can find something more.
Have you tried TWOBOBS, they had to do with the original ones!

Cheers Jens

Jens the only time those colors were accurate was when they were delivered in 1982. After that, they switched to the colors the FAV Mirages and Freedom Fighters used. The dark green FS34079 is still correct, but the light green and tan are not. The light green I ended up using is Testors MM British Interior Green, which matches no FS# that I can find. The tan was a mix of Testors MMII Skin Tone Light and Piping Pink. Again, no FS match. The color is almost like desert pink, only not quite as pink. So much so in fact, when I did mix colors for my ODS Tornado, I just added more pink to the mix. But anyway, here were my results:

Hi HABU,

thank´s a lot for the Info! Salute

PHUUUU ... I thought I made a bigger mistake. Wink
I try to repesent in first line the "standards".
We all know, that there are a lot of "off standard" variations and changes
arround.
So please, if you discover an Error or have some better informations about
a Scheme, I am happy to hear from you! Smile

Cheers
Jens

PS.: Great Model-Bird!!! Your F-16.

Hey Jens
Here's a pic that literally shows the "transition" between the old and new Flanker scheme - the aft fuselage/stabs are in the new scheme, while the rest of the a/c is in the old scheme... the paint shop must have run out of the old colors before they could complete the paint job!!!

Now, the new light blue and gray does seem to be FS35450/FS36270, as stated in your site and on Twobobs' sheet, but the old colors are clearly lighter... my guess is the light gray is FS36375 (based on similarity with AIM-9 tones in another pic), but the light blue I'm not sure, could be FS35526. In both old/new schemes, the dark blue is FS35109.

Could you do us modelers a favor: if you know how to mix paints to obtain the "non-standard" colors that paint manufacturers don't make, could you include it on your site? I create a helluva mess trying to mix paints to get FS35526 and FS30279 for the Sand scheme, and I'm not sure if I've gotten it right... TIA!

Habu - that's another sharp looking kit - it's the FAV F-16 20th anniversary bird?

As a guy who personally painted the F-16 Aggressors when they transitioned out of the F-5'[Link pending approval]

The Fulcrum scheme is as follows (all FS colors):
Entire aircraft painted 36495
then the pattern is made with a mix of 35414 and 37038 in a 20 to 1 ratio
antiglare in the front is 36081
and the radome was untouched 36270

I think i have the original sketches here someplace for the other schemes but off the top of my head the Flogger scheme is 100% correct if you follow the "late" scheme on Don Color

The last one developed was the Flanker and I just dont recall the right numbers at the moment but I'm pretty sure Don Color has them right.

The Sand scheme and the newest one developed by the guys at Fairchild came after my time at Nellis so I cant help there.

Hope that clears up the mud.

Marty

Marty, if the color mix of 53414 and 37038 created a darker color, which color did it create? Or does it even have an updated FS number. I know 36375 is mixed with 078 to make 36320. So is this also the case for the darker blue?

Btw, way to resurrect a four year old thread!
