...And it was great. Haven't had that much fun in a LONG time. There were 60 of us there, split up into 6 flights of 10. We had a Cadet Flight Commander (Our's was a 2nd Class Cadet from the Coast Guard, there was one other coastie, the rest were all 1st Class Zoomies), and 2 Engineer Mentors, all but two there were USAF/Army officers, mine happened to be an Army and USAF 1st Lieutenant...
EDIT: We stayed in Tents/Cots On the USAFA's FERL site. Air Force Sleeping bags KICK a$$.
Pretty much as soon as we got there they put us to work, building concrete beams. Our mold had a blowout, so the CIC(Cadet in Charge) had to move a couple 300lb Elevator weights to help close it. Our beam was a little deformed and the position of our rebar got messed up but we still had the 3rd strongest beam, short of first by 2000lbs, and 2nd by 1400... (Most of the beams were 6"x16'x1.6'). We got a tour of Cheyenne Mountain AFB(Home of NORAD) next day, the security was really tight up there, and we were worried that we were gonna have to turn back cause of the London Bombings. If you're a civil engineer, the insides of that place will make you piss your pants. If not, it's still pretty damn cool. Plus the food is REALLY cheap and pretty tasty too.
We did a bunch of other Engineering-Related stuff too, Built a shed for habitat for humanity, did a water treatment activity with household items(My flight got a 387-turbidity sample of sh*t-water down to 39, that's 90%, not too shabby for a 1.5 hr time limit). The winning team got 93%, and the losing -28%... No idea how that happened.
The Camp itself was fairly informal, none of the officers there(Not even the Colonel that ran it) wanted us to refer to them as sir/maam... Whenever we left the Academy's FERL site where we stayed though, it was different. Yes Sir/Yes Maam everything. Was a little weird to switch from calling the 1LTs that were my mentors there by their first names to addressing a Lt. Col that was about to fire a Hybrid Rocket Motor in his classroom for us properly. I was pretty surprised how many higher-ups had something to do with it, I counted at least 6 Majors, 5 Lt. Colonels, 2 Full Colonels, and an Army 2-Star. The 2-Star was a real nice guy, got to talk to him for a little bit after the whole thing was over.
In anycase, if anyone's even thinking of Applying to Airforce, definatly look into this- http://posts.same.org/camps/airforce.htm http://samecoloradocamp.org/main.htm

That's Foxtrot Flight, I'm at the top in Dark Blue, the guy on the far right at the top is our Flight Leader and the two older ones at the bottom are our mentors. The chick's Army, the guy's AF.

Me landing an F-4 in the Academy's Aeronautics Lab Simulator. The Major there was giving us a tour of the Lab, and said that the Flight model was pretty good 'cept for when you did wild movements in roll. The stick was just like an F-16's quite comfortable, I wish I had one in the 152 I fly at home.

More of the basics. Watching all 1390 of them march to lunch was very impressive even if they were only doing it for a week.

A Viper Driver from Lockheed-Martin came to talk about the F-22. When I asked about the AIM-9X/JHMCS everyone else thought I was strange ::Shrug:: |
