Anyone stationed in Misawa or been there before can give any directions on how to get there?
Thinking of attending the Air Fest there in Aug while I'm in Japan. Thanks! Very Happy

Trains ur best route. I think its a 3 hour trip? Someone more familiar with the Tokyo area can correct me... I forget what the ticket prices are like now too. Dont know when the fest is but if its anytime in the winter pack coats, Misawa gets pretty cold...

Hi STBYGAIN
For the local train, what station do I get off? Station name also Misawa? From there how to get to the main gate?

From your signature, looks like you're currently from Misawa so any firm dates for the JASDF Air Fest? I know it's Aug but need the exact weekend.

Also any nearby hotels as if it takes 3+hrs from Tokyo might just stay in a cheap business hotel over nite.
Thanks again for the help! Very Happy

This site contains information on the Misawa airshow

This site contains travel info (air, rail, and bus)

Map of Misawa local area (incl. base gate and train station)

Hope these help. I am not familiar with the base, as I have never been there (will be going in 2007 after my remote tour in Korea).

If you need more help, I would suggest PMing a member of the forum that is or has been stationed there.

So did you go?

Love to hear a trip report if you did!

I was stationed there from '86 through '88.

We've been hearing rumors like that in Misawa for the past three years now. This one is the most far fetched however. They had us splitting the jets up at one point, half to Eielson and other half to Osan. But we're still here and kickin a$$! Go figger!! Rolling Eyes

If the Block 50's (and the SEAD/DEAD mission) left, would the 15's switch back to the "MJ" tail sign?
