Although Oman may not be the best place to work, Nubdinga's comments seem to have come from a disgruntled employee. To place any blame with the contract maintainers is farfetched. Not every guy in Oman is the best in their respected trade, nor the worst, but of the guys still there, not one have walked off in the middle of a job because they were having a bad day. And the maintenance practices of any person who quit for the implied reasons were far from being "best seen to date."
I make no suggestions as to whether someone should go to work in Oman or not. Everyone has reasons for doing what they do. It may be to make money, to travel or other things, so to each his own. Nubdinga suggests looking elsewhere and " even trying to avoid LM in general if you can, unless you are lazy, incompetent or both and no one else will hire you". I could be wrong, but the only person matching the comments from Nubdinga may be working for " LM" in the UAE. If that is your friend Nubdinga, could you clarify whether he is "lazy, incompetent or both or no one else would hire him? |

First of all DJ, you need to get your facts straight when answering my posts. I never said everyone that works for Lockheed is lazy or incompetent. I have known some very good mechanics that have and still work for Lockheed. And you are right, everyone that works for a particular company, be it stateside or overseas, has there own reasons for working for them. All I am saying is that Lockheed has more than there fair share of screw ups.
As for my friend that was working in the UAE, he is one of the most competent hard working crew chiefs I have ever known. He is also one of the most laid back easy going guys I know and for him to quit the job in the UAE really says a lot about how screwed up it is. I have worked for Lockheed at 3 different sites and every one has essentially the same issues. And just like everyone has their reasons for working for someone, people also have their reasons for NOT working for someone. Peolpe want to work for Lockheed, More power to them.
All I was trying to do was give people something to think about. Lockheed makes a lot of claims as to what they give and how great they are. All I have to say to that is get it in writing. I can't count how many people they have screwed over by telling them something to get them to a job site then pulling the proverbial carrot away. And anyone that wants to dispute my claims about Lockheed or has any questions feel free to send me an email. |

WoW...quite the debriefing you folks have going on about those sites and work environment.
I guess, like in life, it is what you make of it (3/4 of anything is attitude, least that is what I believe) then often reality sets in and screws that whole thought process up - best of luck to you all - watch you backsides no matter where you place it
Be safe, trust no one.....develop a second set of eyes, sounds weird but it works, if and when those hairs on the back of your head tingle....pay attention and react, you might live longer...all the best and I mean that. |
