Seems like an old topic, but seeing how it is stickied, it seems safe for me to post here.
@PetervanStigt: I like the design you've got for your MANTA, but I don't see any boundary layer separators in that first picture. You might want to add some. Also, MANTA was a term already used to describe the Multi-Axis No-Tail Aircraft, which was a planned, tailess F-22 derivative.
One of the best lookers in the aircraft world is the SR-71 Blackbird, in my opinion. It's design is so utterly unlike other aircraft that it has that exotic feel to it. On top of that, it has nice smooth features such as the blending of the fuselage into the wings and the addition of chines. The F-105 is my favorite aircraft, but the SR-71 has the better-looking design. I'm also a fan of the Su-47's design as well as the Flanker series.
There was also a Lockheed concept for a hypersonic aircraft that I absolutely love. It never made it off the drawing board, but that doesn't mean I can't like it. It reminds me of a sleeker B-1 with fixed wings: |

It's an eggbeater, but a military eggbeater at least!
Actually, I really love the Comanche a lot. |

I've loved the comanche ever since I first heard of it 15 years ago. A stealth helicopter that's more maneuverable than any other helo. Carries nearly as much as the Apache, is quite (tank operators couldn't hear them coming) and looks damn cool!!
Such a shame the US Army decided to shelve and spent the money saved on upgrading other hardware... oh wells. |

Sadly not the first time the U.S. Army did that, google the AH-56 Cheyenne sometime. http://www.militaryfactory.com/aircraft/imgs/ah56_2.jpg
My other favorites are the <a href="http://www.willisms.com/archives/tomcat.jpg">Grumman F-14 Tomcat</a>, <a href="http://www.wvi.com/~sr71webmaster/sr71fi~1.jpg">the SR-71 Blackbird,</a> the <a href="http://www.aerocatures.com/Graphics/junkyardhawg.jpg">A-10 Warthog</a>
<a href="http://media.nasm.si.edu/webimages/640/2007-29651_640.jpg">the Grumman X-29</a> and the <a href="http://www.sci.fi/~fta/yf-23-headl.jpg">Northrop YF-23</a> ATF competitor to name a few. Sorry 'bout all the links. |
