Sorry to hijack trailmix's thread. But seeing as how I'm the next one on here to get scores, figured I better post... so...
Verbal/67
Quantitative/88
Aca Apt/82
Pilot/80
Nav/81
I am under advise to keep them untill I get my PCSM. If my PCSM can stand to come up a little bit then I can always retake it.
What do you guys think?

Actually im doing ROTC Trailmix. Thanks for the advice though. You know, if I had to do it over... I would have done OTS. Shorter and less BS than ROTC IMO, but I guess you have to be able to put up with BS if your going to make any career run by the gov't.
BTW, my PFT is an 85 and my GPA is a 4.0. I realise my PFT could come up a bit but I have 2 years still, so I think I'm in good shape.

Aaron, when did you take the PFT? I'm taking the AFOQT (for ROTC) in a couple of weeks...do I take the PFT around the same time? Oh yeah, and from what I understand, you can take the AFOQT and PFT again to try to get better scores?
Good job by the way! How much studying did you do prior to the test? (I'm a little anxious hehe) |

In ROTC, scores have little weight in relation to CC rating, PFT scores and GPA(mostly CC rating). All the dudes that I spoke with at my Guard Unit applying for UPT slots had 90s across hands down. For ROTC, those are good... but for AD, and Guard I would do as you've been advised. Take the BAT and if your PCSM doesnt have the potential to be in 90s, retake it.
Joke of the day!
Who can guess what my AA score was?
A. 99
B. 69
C. 44
D. 24
Im an idiot but I guess they dont really care about that one
The rest were 80s and 90s... |

WILZ, it seems I've been told almost the exact same thing you've told me. Seeing as how our PAS does not spend much time to see us he judges his rankings based on PFT and GPA.
Goatmilk, we took our PFT at the beggining of this month. It may be different for every Det though. You will have several chances to take the PFT. Your freshmen year your scores dont really matter. Your sophmore year you need to at least pass the PFT. (So you can become elligible for POC and goto Field Training) and your junior year you also take the PFT twice but the score that goes to the pilot selection bored is your highest. If you take the PFT around the time of the AFOQT its only by coicidence. I dont know the size of your det but we had two test dates to split everyone up. It just so happened I signed up for October.
Dont get in a nippy panic about studying for the thing. You always have a retake. The layout of the actual test difers now from the arco booklet now too. (Its a new test now) Make sure you check http://www.wantscheck.com to find out what sections were added and removed from the test and what sections now go into the pilot composite. (Its different now) Anyways, I just invested a few hours biweekly over summer and then I reviewed on the material the week before the test. Oh, one more thing...

Haha funny you mentioned that. My girl and I were on a road trip down to L.A. and I was driving/studying and came across that question LOL We were like, "WTF??"...but I got it right surprisingly. Woof was the answer...she said, "Well s**t, thought that was the sound that dogs make."
Anyway, thanks for the advice! |

Glad to see the ol guide hasnt changed...
Hey, I was told by the cadre you cant retake the AFOQT if you pass verbal and quantitative... is that true? He said because if you fail on your retake they have to take your retake as the most current.... I was a bit dissapointed to hear that because it meens I have to stack the flight time and max my bat to maximize my PCSM....

| Well, you will have to play that as you go. I would, if you can play ignorant and maybe act as though you didnt know this policy. Or just take it again and when they go to print them online, they will only see the new scores anyway. I took it two times and the only reference to you taking it twice is the first attempt date. |
