Hey,
Waiting to get my assignment in about a week, but anxious to get out of wichita falls TX. I would like to buy a house if i go to RTU at Luke. Anyone have advice on good housing developments or real estate in Glendale or even further away is fine with me too. Or for that matter any advice on purchasing my first house. Thanks...

Check out <a href="http://www.military.com" target=_blank" rel="nofollow">www.military.com</a>, they've got alot of good info on using your VA home loan benefits (and other info).

2 questions:
  1. Are you there long enough for RTU that you could justify owning a house?
  2. Is it financially possible? (Translation: will you be making enough $$?)
Just curious should I someday be fortunate enough to get a turn at RTU Smile

Ya know... Base housing is nice if you can get it... I rented a house when I went through RTU. Back then, I REALLY should have bought a house (I would have made a KILLING based on house prices in the Phoenix area now.). If you can afford a house out there, and have a nack for renting it out / makeing money in real-estate, I'd do it. It won't be cheap though.

Cave Creek is a really nice part of Phoenix too, Though it's towards the northeast side of town. They are still develpoing much of it and want people to mvoe there, as a result, housing is a bit cheaper, but it's not substandard living by any means. Phoenix is a crazy city, you can drive for almost 2 hours on the interstate at 60-70mph and still be in Phoenix.
