count10,
Well I guess that their investment is done then eh? Looks like Verticopter did all the hard design work for them!
The transition from toy to operational two seat weapon system to counter the F-35 could be a little steep methinks! |

Looks like a toy to me; that prop-fan-lifting device doesn't look like it would lift the aircraft empty!?! What about the weight of fuel and weapons?

The original article:
Quote:
It's a stealth heavy attack helicopter. US aviation experts say that it is designed to counter the F-35 Lightning II.
The aircraft seems to be naval-oriented. Internal weapons bays are included.
Here is what the US experts have to say:
"One aircraft concept that caught the attention of reporters was a vertical takeoff and landing aircraft -- China's answer to the United States' developmental F-35 Joint Strike Fighter. A model of the aircraft, which was on display at the show, appears to incorporate some aspects of stealth technology."
I'd like to know who this "expert" was and why he thinks a chopper has any chance in hell of being the "answer" to the F-35. |

| It's a Pakistani sight, obviously eager for anything to answer the the F-35. |

I think the Verticopter designs take fuel into account, but only ever intended it as a light passenger aircraft. I'm not sure if it can hover out of ground effect or not. |

Oh, it gets worse: this is just a concept in a simulation, and none have actually been built. The gear box, which is only a cartoon at this point, makes the F-35's fan look simple. |

^^^This.
In all seriousness I'm not worried. It's just another piece of trash concept. |
