Check out what www.f-16.net looked like in 1999, its like opening a time capsule Smile

archive.org is a cool site where you can see what websites looked like in the past.

Also I'm a NY Jets football fan...and I love when the F-16's from the NJANG do the flybys over Giants Stadium. They were late at one game last year, and RIGHT before kickoff two of them buzzed the stadium and took 80,000 people by surprise, it was fantastic.

Hi Kevlax2,

Welcome to the forum. I'm glad that 'waybackmachine' doesn't go all the way back to 1993 when we actually started the site. Wink

At that time, the site was known as 'Three-Four-Nine'.

Is "Three-Four-Nine" after the first Belgian F-16 squadron?

Yes, it was in honour of our favorite Belgian squadron.

Ahh.... back in the days when 16 colors was still considered multi-media. Some nights I still have nightmares about the layout we used then Wink

'93!? That will be more than a decade ago! I guess it is sweet memories and the steadfast passions.

Congratulation on the great efforts. Thumb

cheers,

Also take a look at this. This was the 'second' 349 site in the pre-F-16.net era.

wow, pretty sweet. Compliments to the maintainers of this site. Not only have they had a very successful site running more than a decade but they've done a tremendous job maintaining it. (looking back at the older sites they look kinda bland and unsual, but when ya think about it, that was considered hi-tech back then! Crazy!)

Hey, not enough people thank the mods/webmasters around here either. Without you guys we wouldn't have this wonderful discussion forum!

Thanks guys!

At first I thought the 3-4-9 was due to the old USAF document we used to use to track operations completed on the aircraft, we used a form called a 349, it went to a place for accountability called "key punch"...painful work I was told (to collect the maintenance data and sort through it).

Glad that was not the case for the site, the old 349's were to labor intensive to fill out...pain in the rump if you ask me but that was "old school".

I hope the squadron faired better Smile

Hehe, funny. Nobody told us that yet. Rest assured, the 349Sqn is much... much more cooler than that form. Thumb

Cheers,
Lieven
