tell me it didn't actually fly today..i was watching for the f35 at the walmart and didn't see a thing...

A1 flew. Roughly 10am-11am time frame....

Out to the flight line? First this aircraft has to pass all ground tests. Lets hope there will be no power down or engine malfunction Laughing

Well, it's "home" will be the flight line and not the factory. The factory production team officially hands the keys over to the flight test team. It will travel all over the base, but it won't be in the factory again. And the majority of its ground testing will probably be done in the hangars on the flightline. I think its heading to the fuel barn first.

I saw that across the base.

The 'B' model that just rolled is Lockheed's big challenge compared to the rest of the A's and C's to come. Pentagon and Aussie's have their eyes on it more than any of the other programs.

Interesting...they went with a 1-piece intake cover for the lift-fan vs. the accordions that were on the prototype. What's the 2nd set of doors behind the fan? Aux engine inlet perhaps?

lol Jon Beesley referred to AA:1's nose landing gear door as a sail. This is much better. You'll see this on all variants now.

Several of the reports I read said the engine currently installed will be replaced before power on testing as will the lift fan that supposedly has a known defect. The basically used them for fit testing, but they are by no means flight ready at the moment.
