Good luck to them

| I can think of one: "Get them on the ground", because once they're in the air they'll kick the crap out of any current gen fighters... |

Yeah, I believe both of those statements.
From a different thread:

If you give me the gear that the Iraqi AF had on day one of the gulf war 1 and six months to train them I could make the US pay a very high price.
So you really have a high opinion of yourself eh?
I love learning from people that know more that the professionals here. Share your wisdom with us some more.Myself, I'm here to learn from the real pilots, not self styled historians, authors, fanboys, etc. JL raleigh NC |

Look Dan, nobody said that the raptor is invincible and cannot be beaten EVER. What people are saying here is that it is tremendously cost effective. Find me a fighter that can beat any current generation aircraft virtually every time for 120 million, good luck..
The raptor also has good secondary air to ground capability, which is not the case of the F-15C that it will replace.
Nothing comes close in terms of cost effectiveness. |

NAH Mastiff, I don't have a high opinion of myself. I'm just tired of everybody saying the raptor is such a great jet. From what little I know about it's performance it promises to be a tough one to beat. But it is not invincible. No aircraft is.
As for ways that it could be beaten. Ask yourself how you would beat it. If you do that I'm sure that you could think of several ways yourself. |

No offense meant but I'm old. Old enough to know I don't know the job better than the USAF pilots that have been exercising against it and finding themselves looking at a whole different animal then they're used to. Have you been reading their comments? I'm curious because the message they have given us has been very clear. I'm not talking about factory or pentagon propaganda either. Do you claim to know more than these pilots that post these anecdotes along with their feelings they get when they of go up against something they can't see, find, kill, outrun, outmanuver etc.Right now, the biggest threat to the Raptor is the budget. Killing it on the ground before it takes off is your best bet in a combat situation.
I'd like to hear your plan to beat the raptors. Recall it comes in a big, sophisticated and well equipped package called the USAF with standoff EW/ Jamming aircraft, compass call, AWACS, cruise missile strikes beforehand etc, etc. JL Raleigh NC |
