| Let's assume that both pilots were equal in skill, and they knew each other were there (this rules out the Raptor sneeking up on the SU-37), who do you think would win in a dogfight between the two? I'm just curious because they both have thrust-vectoring, and are extremely nimble. I personally think that the F-22 would emerge victorious, but i want to see what you guys think. |

Both would launch their off boresight. helmet cued heaters and both would die.
Dogfighting in todays world is like 10ft (basically impossible to miss) distance quick draw duell at high noon.
Only the cowboys don´t have lead bullets but a poision that is extremly deadly but only starts to work after 10 seconds, so even after you get hit you still have 10 seconds of total control over your body.
Of course not takeing into acount that there are no flying Su37s around. |

| Yeah, but lets say it came down to guns, just to keep the debate going, (there don't need to be any flying 37's, this is all theoretical) and it was all sheer manuverability, plus it's not impossible to evade a missile, especially for manuverable aircraft. |

Maybe we should assume that they donßt have any guns either but the pilots are armed with slingshots.
Gunzo fighting is pilot skill to a very large degree, after that and with great distance comes airplane performance and the quality / user friendlieness of the gunsight.
Besides there are no performance charts available on either the F22 or the SU37, so all will be pure speculation |

Hey TC, I was looking for this subject and couldn't find it. If you could tell me where it's at, that would be great. I didn't mean to post a beat-to-death topic. I was just wondering.
Sorry guys.
BTW, I like your little catch phrase TC. |

Jeez, where on this site ISN'T this topic, it seems like?
Check out the thread on F-22 Maneuverability, and some of the ABC v. XYZ dogfight threads. You should've been on here about a week or so ago. It was like "Friday Night at the Fights" in the F-22 Maneuverability thread.
Oh yeah, thanks for the compliment on my closing line. An Eagle Driver MiG killer that I know has this on the back of his bowling shirt!

| The whole F-22 section is filled with these romantic chapters. Even topics with completely unrelated titles have them! |

Awesome, thanks for the info all. Again, sorry about the exhausted topic.
I'll see all of you later in other forum topics. |

Seriously this 22vs37 track is kind of played out already.

This is funny.
Ok, to answer your question, I actually own one of each of those fighters, yes, the secret is out, I am the only civilian allowed to buy them. But don't spread this around. I have plenty of hours on both and my 37, or, the "Soaring Penguin" as I like to call it, definately kicks a$$. I love when my boy takes the 22 up, or as I call that one "The Double Deuce," and sneaks up on me all stealthy. This is officially settled. |

| I am dead serious. I can't reveal my identity, all I can tell you is that Bill Gates makes less in a year than I make on my quarterly bonus. We'll just leave it at that. |
