Guys, I don't mean for this to be a religious debate or anything like that. I know that not everyone here is Catholic or Christian, we have a wonderfully diverse member base on this site which is one of the things that makes it so great!
I just wanted to ask everyone, no matter your religion, to say a prayer for this man. He did a lot of good while he was in this world and I'm sad to see him go, but I'm comforted by the thought that he's in a better place now where he won't suffer anymore.
Thanks guys. |

I'm really sorry to hear that... He was a great man and did a lot to unify the Catholic church and the Jewish people.

Very sad day indeed. As a Catholic, I've never known another Pope in my life than John Paul II.
I wish I had gotten the chance to see him in person. The only other religious leader that I've ever met that could remotely come close is Billy Graham.
I hope the church can elect another man who can lead the church in the manner he did, though I imagine, there will never be another like him.
Out of respect to such a great man, I will refrain from posting my common closing line.

Pope John Paul II was a man gentle in manner, resolute in deed, and a good leader. His influence will be greatly missed, and his successor will have some, if I may use the expression, big shoes to fill.
As a Christian, I respect the man, his testimony, his life, and the service he did to the name of Christ. He loved his God, and he loved others, the two noblest aspirations any man may have in life. Now that his life's work is done, I pray that he may rest in peace and that others will follow the good examples he set, to have a passion for God, and to care for the needs of others. |
