In October last year, Egypt faced the biggest terrorist attack on Egyptian Soil since the Sadat Assaination and Luxor attacks.
In Taba, the Hilton resort hotel building along with other resorts suffered from the explosion of numerous bombed cars, which effectively collapsed the building and due to no available areial helicopters in Sinai, out of respect of the demilitarized zone entitled in the Camp David Peace Treaty, Egyptian athourities asked and allowed the entrance of Israeli medical choppers into Sinai.
The questions: Were they military or not?
How many?
Types?
Pictures?
Thanks.
Prayers for all who died, Egyptians, Israelis, and others! |

Hi Karim.
I think I saw a report back then which said there were 2 or 3 Blackhawks, IIRC. I'll need to look it up, and post it here if I find it. |

| Well, all I seem to be able finding now is this:
Quote:
Foreign Minister Silvan Shalom asked that Egypt allow Israeli helicopters land in Sinai to evacuate the wounded.
from here.
There's no doubt about the type (the Blackhawks are the only choppers in Israel which are capable of evacuating), the only question left out is how many took part in the evacuation. |

| I think I saw also on CNN some other medical choppers, civil, may be Bells or something. |

Is there a reason the IDF/AF couldn't use the Super Stallions for dust off missions? |

You're right, but the IDF/AF USUALLY don't use its CH-53's for civil evacuation missions for the reasons stated by Karim. |

| Makes sense. I hadn't thought about the weight and not being able to land on a hospital. |
