Is anyone on the board stationed at Eglin? I'm looking for a friend of mine I played high school baseball with a few years ago.

I was at Eglin AFB 1981-1984. When I got to Eglin they had 6 F-16's. 3 block 5, 2 block 10, 1 block 15.

I remember it well, the "Dirty Turd", we used to make sure to come onto the base through the 33 TFW gate during exercises, when they asked why we weren't in our gear, you just showed them that you were with the test wing and you were just passing through.....come to think of it, it's no wonder they hated us....

I loved Eglin, probably one of the best bases stateside.

[quote="TJSmitty"][quote="HANKMEISTER"]II'll second that!
I was at Eglin 1982-1987 (3242, then 3246 Test Wing) working out of Bldg 100 A-Shop...working for ole Verl Corley if you remember the name...
I once got jacked up by security police for trying to steal an F-15 at Eglin!
Guess they weren't around the -60 power units enough to tell the difference between that and the real jet engines...
What great memories!!

Hi Dave,

I remember Verl Corley...flash back to Luke AFB, 1985 or so, and I (and a bunch of other A-shoppers) am sitting in a classroom listening to GD instructor Dan Steele (aka Steely Dan, later AFETS) talk about discrete signals to the EFCC on the brand-new F-16C models. During a pause in Dan's instruction, Verl asked this question: "I know this probably a stupid question, but just exactly what is a discrete signal?"

As one, every head in the class turned to see who could possibly be asking this question and wondering what he was doing in that class...

Best Regards,
