| I had a blast during my 4 active years. It was like being in college with all the parties and crazy stuff goin on. You will make great friends. I've been traditional guard for the last 2 years after active and now i'm ready to go full time guard i miss it alot. Trust me, if you pick a job you like then you won't regret it, everything else will be fun. But ya don't be an idiot |

quote"Forget anything that anyone said about getting yelled at...the short answer is NO. The guard is incredibly laid back... probably moreso than a civilian job."
I'm in the guard or that is just retired after 25 years as of yesterday. I was a flightline element supervisor that didn't hesitate to let either technician or traditional know when they screwed up. But I feel that I gave them the praise the was needed as well.
quote"Most of them think weekenders wouldn't make good wheel chocks even if you painted us yellow and stuck a rope up our butts."
That depends on the supervision and how people are utilized. Unfortunately some units may have that mindset but I didn't. Even when we didn't fly, I made sure hands on training was a priority. With mumblings from both technicians and traditionals. Too bad. As I always told my guys.......The work we get out of the traditionals is a true reflection of the training we've provided them........so if your not happy with it, quit complaining and fix it!
Have a great day!

| It was easy to find the biggest screwups. They all pulled dorm-guard while the flight was marching in parade. |

You know what, so what if you get yelled at once and awhile, don't take it personal. I don't mean to offend but it is just part of the routine to re-mold you into something the USAF can use (test you too).
They do it to us all, it is no big thing. But if you are worried about that, life is about to shock the hell out of you collectively...far worst can and will happen over the years. I wish I only had to worry about being yelled at....kids...time to grow up I guess.
Life is tough but if your not too smart, life will be tougher...trust me on this |
