Do you guys remember that reality show that came out a few years back on ABC called "<a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0314972/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">AFP: American Fighter Pilot</a>"?

I know they cancelled it after the second episode probably due to low ratings, but does anybody know what ever became of those three pilots? The only one I remember by name was Lt. Giggy or something like that. I remember one of them was a very religious guy and the other was a former B-1 pilot. I remember the whole theme of the show was "Who will be top gun?" which I admit was kinda dumb. But if anyone knows what ever happened with these pilots please let me know.

The B-1 guy made it through, he became a guard guy... its really uncommon for a bomber guy to get a fighter slot, but I guess it happens. dont know where he went or anything like that...

They all made it.

It was really too bad the show got cancelled before they started flying. They have some of the best air-to-air footage ever shot and it will probably never be aired. Although I do have to admit that the show was horrible to watch with all the music and false drama. They should have let the "reality" part of the show stand on its merits - flying fighters should be interesting enough that you won't gather many extra viewers with heavy metal music added in.

What unit is the B-1 guy with?

CBS should sell the footage to Discovery Wings, and have them air the remaining episodes. Discovery has started airing more "reality based" programming anyway.

I remember they had the camera trucks parked around the flightline @ Tyndall for months, which coincidentally was the same time they were revamping the runways, so things got a little hectic for awhile.

They actually f*cked it while it was on. They tried to make one think that the kid was going to wash out, but then they were interviewing him to provide commentary for some of the scenes and he already had his USAFE and Lakenheath patches on his flight suit. DUH! Rolling Eyes He obviously made it to his operational unit. Made the melodrama anti-climactic.

...And after all the hype, after all the publicity, after all the time and money spent trying to push the show, they turned around and cancelled it after the 3rd episode. What a crock of $hit!

The "Who will be Top Gun" subplot is actually true. The B course studs are ranked, and the top student gets some award.

It would be good to see the remaining episodes, BTW. The show was shot by Ridley Scott (Alien), and produced by his brother Tony Scott (Top Gun).

Wish they had kept it on. But, CBS thought that JAG contributed more to the military than actual members of the military I guess. Rolling Eyes Glad they cancelled that piece of cow flop too. Evil or Very Mad

Beers and MiGs were made to be pounded!

All the individuals made it through the course, and they are now on their second (or in some cases) third tour. Mike Love (ex-Bone pilot) is not in the Guard. Giggy, incidentally, flies Eagles at the same base as his brother. There were more than 3 individuals in the course, they filmed them all equally but picked the three most "interesting" to focus on in the editing process. A great idea gone totally to s**t because of the MTV-ization of the show.

Regards,
Murph
