Would like to hear from active duty folks, especially 14+ years service. Trying to find old friends and see how bad/good things are now. Private message me if you don't want to be in the clear. I was medically retired in 1997 as a tech with 12.5 and yesterday would have been my 20 yr mark. Was at Macdill, Kunsan and ended at Moody.

How is retention? in 97 you couldn't throw enough money at a guy to keep him in. Actually had congressional fact finders at Moody to find out why retention was low. How about manning. Sometimes I was the swingshift flightchief/expediter, and still had to crew a jet. Glad Rivet workforce is gone, I went thru an FTD course for a week then got signed off by an engine shop guy, surprised we didn't crash jets left and right. Looking for Craig Moore, Dave meier, Tim Stavely, and Bill Holm. Anybody know where they are?

vinnie - I was at moody in 97, I remember the retention problems there, as well as the money they were shoveling out! Although I don't know where the people are you asked about, I do know a few people from there. I was in the 68th, and know a few people from the 69th and QA as well. My commander and chief retired and took over the maintenance side of the T-38 program there. As far as conditions now, well we still deploy alot, and now we have a deployment into the big bad sandbox available to us as well (whoopee!!! Bang Head ) There has been a steady trend for the supporting agencies to push their job off onto the member, MPF and Fincance are the best case scenario. We recently had a wingman day here, talking about how there is a rise in suicide attempts, and they asked us to discuss what we can do to help prevent that. I answered them with the same thing cylon had just said in this thread. In the crew chief realm we aren't getting money to join or stay in now, and they are asking crew chiefs to get out early or cross train now!!!! What crazyness is that?! Shrug

Vinnie,

Try posting that question in our (newly created Wink ) "Buddy Finder" forum - it will get more attention there.

I left the 68th in 1998. I think I remember someone getting sent home becouse they couldn't jump intakes becouse of double vision.

I have been in for 20 years now and it is getting worse. I don't know if it's the Air Force or just that I'm getting a lot more responsability but I'm pullin chocks. I'm getting a job at Moody working for the Chief and the Col again.
