Most pilots from Bahrain actually trained at McDill when it was a real fighter base. It has been mentioned in previous threads that UAE pilots are currently training in Tucson as we speak.
I'll also say this, I've fired up the avionics system on the Block 60 and they will NEVER undertand it all, it is AMAZING to say the least, USAF pilots would have a tough time navigating it. But it's damn sure fun to play with, ya better have a lot of cooling air available though.
O.T., be nice for congressional pork to work for us... ( push some Blk 60's on USAF, USAFR, Guard even though USAF didn't ask for them ) ... instead of against us. ( C-130J ) |

The RNLAF and the US signed a Memorandum of Understanding on 30-10-1989 and the Dutch started flying on 03-04-1990. They had 11 F-16's in Tucson:
F-16A: J-219, J-221, J-222, J-229, J-242, J-245, J-247 and the J-257
F-16B: J-263, J-268 and the J-269
They all were from the 316 sqn. from Einhoven (Holland).
They were flown bach to Holland in 1995, but up to today the F-16 initial Qualification Training still takes place in Tucson. Nowadays, the Theater Qualification Training in Holland is carried out by the 306 sqn at Volkel. |

Wanted to know why you think the Israeli's train themself and not in Tucson?
And what about Egypt? |

Many foreign airforces have their own recurrent training programs once pilots are qualified but for the newbies it's just more cost-effective (and politcally advantageous for both sides) to send them here. Many EPAF nations have airspace issues at home that are moot when they come here. Just look at the Goldwater Range Luke and Tucson use and the vastness of the northern Nevada desert (except for Groom Lake! )
The Israelis are a breed apart however, and have always prided themselves (rightfully so) in their ability to accomplish difficult tasks on their own, including training their own pilot recruits. But they do routinely come here for large scale excercises like Red Flag and such though. Perhaps they also don't have the same airspace issues vis-a-vis the Europeans. |

According to the interview with Maj. Gregory Stroud, instructor pilot with the 148th, following air forces have sent pilots to Tucson for F-16 training:
Belgium, Denmark, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Singapore, Taiwan
As far as I know (and please correct me if I'm wrong), only the RNlAF has based F-16s there for training, the other air forces use US aircraft.
Any other that somebody knows of ?

Is there a reason the ANG undertakes the instruction of the foreign pilots? I'm wondering why these foreign pilots don't train along side USAF student pilots in the Air Education and Training Command.
The Taiwanese stationed at Luke use theri own A/C. And as forforeign piolots training along with USAF student pilots in AETC they do at Sheppeard for intial training and then they also move onto Luke, AFB. |

| When I lived in Tucson me and my brother would hang out at the air base and watch the fighters fly. Even saw some eagles doing acm. And then saw the A-10s on landing approach. |
