Are you guys sure the marined don't already have super bugs? I could have swore I've seen E/F models coming through osan with marine markings, but I could be wrong too- we have quite a few -18's that rotate through here, and my brain cells get scrambled kinda easy.
Parrothead, I agree with you, I don't see the blues and t-birds merging to one team. Neither are in place just for 'show'; they are key elements in the recruitment efforts of each service. While DoD is trying to go 'joint' with everything, I don't see them taking on recruiting the same way. I can just see it now;
recruiter:"ok, well, welcome to the armed forces, and congrats on not going into the army!"
new guy: "hey thanks, what is my job going to be?"
recruiter: "well, you'll figure that one out later. We still don't know if you're going to be Air Force, Navy, or Marines..."
new guy: "huh?" |

| The recent Marine Hornets thru Osan were F-18Ds and some F-18Cs. |

| Does the Thunderbird team get the jets that are a step away from the bone yard like the Blue Angels. If that's the case, I don't think either team will get their hands on the 35's any time soon. |

It's possible. But the replacement jet for the one lost at Mountain Home came from the Ft. Smith (ARK) ANG unit (and the Razorbacks were none too happy 'bout losin' one of their jets, or so I hear). |

Coupla' things to consider:
The Angels still fly F/A-18 A/B (not even C/Ds!). They had to go to Davis Montham to find a suitable replacement for the wrecked (#6?) a few years ago. There are NO plans for the USMMC to acquire F/A-18E/Fs. They are waiting for JSFs.
The F-16s will be around quite a while. The 'Birds on NOT on the stand-up sked for JSF AFAIK. |

I dont see the neccessity for it anyways. Ive heard from a number of places that the Vipers can out turn the JSFs in a low speed anyways. That would be better for air show performance if you ask me. All the cool stealth technology and stuff isnt really going to make the performance any better unless they give everyone in the crowd a radar or something :p
