Is it possible that my friend saw about 4-5 of these things flying over Otis base in MA doing some aerobatics and then landing?
I've seen footage of a Mig being spotted over Area51, but that place is a whole different ball game i guess......
With that said, I would be easily convinced if he saw one SU but about 4-5 of them would be crazy right? |

I'm not even sure there are 5 Su-35/37 built. AFAIK they had one Su-35 which was converted into Su-37 status by adding TVS, but it later crashed at the Paris Air Show.
Perhaps your friend saw a Su-27?
Maybe some more details could help: Did they have canards? An ECM pods between the nozzels? One/double seater? |

Area 51... so close, yet so very far away... how I'd love to get a good close look at that place !
I think your friend must have seen an SU-27. Please give us more details! |

| It wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if your buddy saw a su-whatever. I have heard the US goverment tends to buy any forgien aircraft, that could pose a potential threat to learn the in and outs of the systems and eventually develop tactics against those aircraft. |

Otis has F-15's. Most likely what he saw. Then again, F-14's and F-18's visit Guard bases all the time........
Have a great day!

p.s. We get excited when we see F-4's from Holloman fly in.... |
