Hi guys I am new here to F16 and have alot of questions about the plane and hope you all can help to chip in your expertise and knowledge!

Please try to give as much elaborated explanation as you all can please Very Happy , would help very much when I explain to my juniors.

Nacelle Ejector: how does it works? where does it gets its air from? Does it really off for awhile during bit check or does it not? Why do we have to keep checking it.

What is dessc? ( the panel beside 6 green lights ) , i presume its the pop indicator at 12 o clock position when looking into the panel, and whats the con check that we press during launch for?

6 green lights, I know it relates to a pump, but which pump at where? what happens when a light doesn't light up?

Pump in fuel tank, Gear type pump or vane type pump? How does it operate? Will it operate in battery mode? Electricity from?

Fuel flow proportional, what is the job of FFP?

EPU: 70H30 water, 3k psi of air or hydrazine? What are the requirements for firing of EPU? What does EPU runs? If PTO shaft breaks, EPU still will have use? What else good info is good to know for epu system ?

Sec Check : Turkey Feathers: How do they move? How do pilot make it move, More thrust when its closed or lesser?

Nose Wheel Steering: I gave the answer of differential braking and was smacked in the head. How does this thingy works! Why do rudder moves too?

JFS: How exactly does the airplane starts? timing + pilot inputs, 3k psi of what? What am I exactly pumping with the T handle. Hydraulic start motor different from JFS? Pilot controls when to put to idle? Does it auto ignites and start combusting when pilot moves to idle or smth else? Whatsup with the strong heat for first few seconds of JFS, noticed a black blast of smoke after awhile too.

SpeedBrakes: Why does it open faster than it closes? Effective speed for speedbrake to be of use?

AR Door: Noticed that it takes longer to close for D model compared to C model.

More questions to come!

Fuel system: Anyone has a diagram of the fuel tanks? How does the viper eats his fuel? From where first and last to empty?
In a external wing tank, which section empties out first? Is this all same for refueling? What is the pressure during flight/refuelling/ AR refuelling/ ? Anymore that I need to know about fuel system?

Hydraulic system: Why is it often service B bleed A . Which system runs what component? Why is it important to check for 3k jfs psi before servicing B .

What does nacelle ambient sensing port do? What is the similar hole on the left side? is it called fuel ambient sensing port or something else, these 2 mixes me up.

What is the 2 hole beside and under the arresting gear? Noticing one gives out white smoke during engine run.

What does WOW switch changes , eg to flaps or anything.

What is this overwrite horstab position? Why only on nose down position and not up too?

probably a stupid question but, why is the intake shaped this way?

CSD : How does it works? It maintains same output with variable input but how? What is inside it?

ADG: Is this just a bunch of gears and stuffs leeching off it?

Recovery sequencer, whats that? And the need for the indicator check + safety pin.

Where did you say you were from? Oh yeah... classified. Actually, I'm more curious about which country is letting you look at their Vipers.

You have a lot more questions than anyone here is going to answer. If you are a crew chief, then you should have access to technical data. That would be a good place to start.

ouh was kinda hoping to learn way more than whats in the books here

but anyway thanks for the "helpful" comments.

Whats up with your dude really? You expected 1 question in a thread? It was ideal to consolidate all my friends and my questions and put it in here 1 thread instead of multiple threads.

and yes we all been looking through archives here and learning as much as possible.

JG doesn't tells everything.

Anyone with true helpful deep knowledge keen to help answer my questions?

Your juniors? You are their instructor? You must learn the T.O. system first, does MIDAS ring any bells?

Maybe not, but the GV, GS, and FI will.

You're not likely to get any of these questions you asked anwered on a public internet forum.

You should be reading the GS (General System) manuals. The GS series breaks down the general theory of operation for most of the systems.

After reading your questions, I find it hard to believe that you are an F-16 crew chief who instructs "juniors" because you appear to know very little about HOW things work and even less about WHY things work. Instead of seeking answers in a public online forum while remaining anonymous at a "classified" location, you should elevate your questions to your superiors as proof that you require immediate formalized training (with emphasize on how to properly reference technical data) before you further jeopardize the safety of pilots and yourself.

Regardless of nationality or status as military or civilian, I can't even fathom the idea of a crewdawg being unleashed on an F-16 without first understanding the functions of the EPU, JFS, WOW, and NWS. Anyone (especially a crewdawg) who accesses an F-16 cockpit should know what the recovery sequencer is and understand the rationale for inspecting it.

Be careful, the F-16 is known to be unforgiving if there is an EPU activation with crew nearby. I had heard of a situation where a F-16 diverted to the closest emergency field, and they'd never had a F-16 there before, so the rescue service came in full HAZMAT gear, in case of EPU activation. The relevant information was available before the jet landed.

You might get some information from a copy of the Rescue and Mishap Respnonse information;
http://www.0x4d.net/files/AF1/R11%20Segment%2011.pdf

Unless your in Venezuela or somewhere like that, operational units can get electronic copies of the relevant TOs etc. easily through official channels.
