- Nineteen F-35s were in the air across the nation, from Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst in New Jersey to Edwards AFB in California, on 13 August 2012.
- The previous record was seventeen flights on 8 August.

- Two aircraft launched from Edwards;
- four from NAS Patuxent River, Maryland;
- three from NAS Fort Worth JRB;
- nine from Eglin AFB, Florida;
- one from McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst

for a total of nineteen, which set a record for the F-35 program. Of the nineteen flights, five were CTOL and seven were STOVL.

Thanks Code One! Smile

Seriously, do you need a new keyboard, mouse, whole computer, what?

Have you tried a new browser?

Is this just a way to get your post count up?

He already has full dots.
Or, is this about the Elite 1k vs. Elite 3k?

I've been thinking about this one. And it doesn't make sense to me. Here is my thinking:

-EDW (2) probably both A's, but maybe a B since they are doing Air Start Testing there. (2A's, or 1A + 1B)
-PAX (4), a mix of B's and C's, probably 3B's + 1C, but it could be 2B's + 2C's. (3B's +1C, or 2B's + 2C's)
-FTW (3), A's and B's, I'm guessing 2B's + 1A, but it could be 1B + 2A's. (A + 2B's, or 2A's + B)
-Lakehurst (1), No question, is a C doing Trap testing. (1C)
-EAFB (9), A's and B's, but I have no idea on the mix.

But here is what we have:
5 A's
EDW: 1 or 2
FTW: 1 or 2
EAFB: 1 - 3

7 B's
EDW: 0 or 1
PAX: 2 or 3
FTW: 1 or 2
EAFB: 1 - 4

7 C's (?)
PAX: 1 or 2
Lakehurst: 1
Missing 4 or 5

Also even if EAFB has 3 A's and 4 B's that is only 7 missing 2 flights, but could be missing up to 7 flights.

I'm thinking the report is wrong, or at least some major typos with regard to the number of flights that were A and B models.

...did the same thing, then I quit when I started thinking about the occaisions when different crews were flying the same "up" a/c on the same day with no "downing" gripes. "As the LM publicity promotes" the reliability of the -35 is yielding more flights with less maintenance???, can this be?? Question Shocked Wink Smile

I had another thought. What if the "Of the nineteen flights, five were CTOL and seven were STOVL" statement was missing the word "production?"

Eglin had 9 production flights and Fort Worth had 3, as long as the flights at Edwards weren't AF-6 or AF-7 the math works. 12 production flights, 5 were CTOL and 7 were STOVL.

I bet you're correct. Now that we hear that Eglin is shooting for 8 sorties per day (2 a/c per sortie) the new baseline should be in excess of those 16 flights + the SDD efforts. The crawl, walk, run scenario must have them at least at strollin', Ha!

The maintenance folks must be having a great deal of success if they are making all of these flight schedules. It was rather interesting to notice that in one video, the maintenance technician walked up and plugged into the system while the pilot was still preparing to exit the cockpit. Smile

Now that Eglin has 7 MS Block 1.Bs from LRIP3 they will be expanding the training scenarios and increasing flight durations (more flight time) for the total 19 on-hand a/c. To date 44 F-35s have flown and also all of LRIP3 at FW (next will begin LRIP4).

"Train the Trainer" seems to be moving ahead smartly, with all the O4s and O5s on the certified list. Yuma and Luke must be smokin' in preparation for their respective training commands.

100 F-35 Flights in 44 Days Eglin AFB, FL - 8/27/2012 By PRESS RELEASE

http://www.thebaynet.com/news/index.cfm ... y_ID/29240

"Picking Up the Pace: In a sign the Lightning II is progressing forward, U.S. Marine Corps Maj. Joseph Bachmann, pilot, VMFAT-501, completed the 33rd Fighter Wing's 200th combined Air Force A variant and Marine Corps B variant F-35 sortie at Eglin Air Force Base, FL.

Bachmann's flight on Friday, August 24 comes 44 days after the wing accomplished its 100th F-35 sortie on July 11, 2012. The 33rd Fighter Wing completed sorties 101 to 200 in about a third of the time it took to complete flight one to 100. The first F-35 flight at Eglin AFB took place March 6 this year.

There are 19 joint strike fighters at Eglin as the fleet continues to grow and the team presses forward to train more instructor pilots and develop maintainer courses. The F-35 incorporates a wide range of new technologies for stealth, multi-mission capabilities, and sustainability."
