Outstanding! The darker color certainly looks good on the Viper and hope it will be adopted fleet wide.

Was it confirmed that all of the deployed aircraft had the new scheme? Or is this an "in theatre" test of the scheme?

I've seen this color scheme in person when we had the Lockheed block 52+ test jet down here at EFD a couple of months ago. Very beautiful indeed, nothing like a new paint job.

So, any Viper painters out there able to confirm this is the new scheme for repaints? Seems it would have shown up more often if this was the new paint plan since it first popped up almost a year ago?

As someone suggested earlier, it may be going over as a one-off to see how it fares in day to day ops.

336 is still the two-tone scheme. A little surfing revealed a few examples of the "new" scheme, hopefully it is more prevalent than the photographed examples would seem to indicate.
98-0004 and 98-0005 (both OT tail coded), 91-0331 (MN), 90-0848 (LMC test bird), 85-1551 and 85-1547 (both ED tail coded). 331 looks like the first Viper not directly associated with a test unit but as suggested this may be a deployment test before going fleet wide? Maybe someone will eventually chime in and confirm this is the standard for all repaints. |

Quick correction to my post above, 91-0331 should be 91-0391.
