From 69 through about 73, the Thunderbirds and Blue Angels both operated the F-4. The Thunderbirds flew Es and the Blues flew Js, so there is some precedence for both teams flying the same jet.
I still think it's a little more realistic to see them in the JSF than the 'birds flying the Raptor. It would be a major waste of $$$$ to dedicate about 8 Raptors solely for the purpose of punching holes in the sky for airshow spectators.
As for Raptors appearing in shows soon, yes, the 43rd FS will perform a couple Raptor flyovers at this years Tyndall show. It will still be quite some time, if ever, that we see a dedicated Raptor demo team.
