| Anything specific about this upgrade? What AESA radar are they planning to use? Is the cockpit layout going to change? New displays? |

Ferrying small batches of KF-16s across the Pacific Ocean, then all over USA, forth and back, for the upgrades and tests, sound inconvenient, IMO.
And upgrading presumably all 130-odd KF-16s will take aeons, eh, years.
OTOH, stalkers, eh, photographers at these BAE Systems facilities may help fill in the F-16.net ROKAF KF-16 missing photos. XD

| Weren't CCIP upgrades on USAF Vipers completed in country by Korean industries? If so, wouldn't they have the capability to this locally instead of fly the birds back to the states? It does sound a bit inconvenient. If it means more US jobs, then I guess there is a bright side. |

Col. Baek was responding to an allegation that Brig. Gen. Cho Bo-keun at DAPA may have been connected to the selection of BAE Systems for a $1.1 billion deal to upgrade the nation’s aging KF-16 fighter jets.
His elder brother, retired Rear Adm. Cho Boo-keun has long worked as a senior advisor to BAE.
The company vehemently denied Cho Boo-keun had anything to do with its winning the deal, while DAPA also dismissed any possibility. |

Hello, I have a question about the Korean F-16 Upgrade Contract.

Well, I know that the new generation of AESA radars is less expensive then the previous one.
Nevertheless this figure sound to me a bit optimistic / too low. Is it possible that Aviation Week misunderstood in some way that terms of the contract and the contract does not yet include the radars, or the article is correct and each radar will cost just below $4 milion circa (that would be quite intersting)?

| Is BAE designing a new custom upgrade with new systems or are they just performing the upgrade work of a program that has already been done (CUPID, CCIP, F-16V, etc)? Is this just for Block 52 aircraft or will Block 32 birds be candidates for upgrade as well? |

Note the "20" badges on their flight suits.
Can't read the serial number on the KF-16 in the photo though. |

I wonder if those girls are within ejection limits for the KF-16?
103 Lb "nude" weight is the USAF standard with the newer seats, and I'm guessing the Koreans would have switched to the lower weight limit. I'm not sure when the USAF officially changed the requirements from 140 Lb but I'd assume in the 90s. I asked a senior female pilot and she said that she had to get a waiver for her flight, when she was a cadet, at around 130 Lb when she was 15, and still wears original NJROTC authorized flight suit. She changed the rank insignia, and keeps it for special occasions. I'm guessing she weighs around 145 Lb now and is fully qualified for both the F-16 ACES II and the F/A-18F NACES II Seats. |
