More Israeli systems in F-35 aircraft
US Department of Defense transferring $207 million to Lockheed Martin to made adjustments allowing for the installation of more Israeli systems onboard the stealth aircraft
http://www.israeldefense.com/?CategoryI ... cleID=1611
"The US Department of Defense provided $207 million to Lockheed Martin, the manufacturer of the F-35 combat aircraft, so that the company will make adjustments to allow the installation of Israeli systems onboard the aircraft.
The grant will allow Lockheed to make hardware and software adjustments so that the 20 aircraft acquired by Israel will be able to accept the systems that Israel is seeking to install in them. This agreement, which will allow for the installation of unique systems onboard the aircraft, is expected to provide approximately $450 million to the Israeli defense industries.
As previously reported by IsraelDefense in April, the US administration has agreed to allow the IAF to install Israeli-produced radio and data-transfer systems onboard the stealth combat aircraft, as well as to upgrade its Electronic Warfare (EW) system by adding Israeli systems.
The Israeli defense industries, headed by Elbit Systems and IAI, will develop “additions” to the aircraft's integral systems towards upgrading the EW system. The scope of the work that Lockheed Martin would order from Israel was concluded in recent years.
Until recently, the US did not allow the IAF even partial access to the EW system of the advanced aircraft. The unique additions will grant the IAF with an advantage of other regional air forces which will also possess the aircraft." |

Super popular flyover point, I've seen several pictures of IAF airplanes with it. |

The unique additions will grant the IAF with an advantage of other regional air forces which will also possess the aircraft.
Given the deterioration of Turkish-Israeli relations, one never knows.. |

I'm always amused when people fret about Israel passing on the F-35's technology. I'd be more worried about the Turks. That place is about to go full-on muzzie nuts, then it'll be Iran and the F-14s all over again. |

Israeli team visits F-35 production facility By: Arie Egozi 6 Nov 2012
http://www.flightglobal.com/news/articl ... ty-378551/
"A team of Israeli air force personnel has visited Lockheed Martin's Fort Worth facility in Texas, as part of the service's preparations for an initial batch of 20 F-35A Joint Strike Fighters that are due to receive some Israeli-made systems.
Israeli experts are working with the manufacturer to prepare the fifth-generation stealth fighter to accept the equipment, which will be installed after the nation's F-35s are supplied from 2017.
In July, sustained Israeli pressure resulted in an agreement that will allow the air force to enhance the capabilities of the F-35's electronic warfare (EW) systems, under a $450 million deal. The service's previous interest in changing radar equipment was dropped, however.
Sources suggest that the modifications will probably be achieved by allowing Israeli-made equipment to interface with the F-35's standard EW system.
Lockheed confirms that an increment one contract modification for Israel was signed by the F-35 Joint Program Office on 20 August. Valued at almost $207 million, this "includes the development of the hardware and software for the Israel F-35A CTOL [conventional take-off and landing] air system from the initial requirements development to the preliminary design review", the company says."
That's it. |
