Exclusive - U.S., Lockheed reach deal on Israeli F-35s By Andrea Shalal-Esa
Reuters 26 July 2012
http://uk.news.yahoo.com/exclusive-u-lo ... ector.html
"WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The Pentagon has reached an agreement with Lockheed Martin Corp on a $450 million (286.7 million pounds) program to enhance electronic warfare equipment on the F-35 fighter jet, and integrate Israeli-unique systems beginning in 2016, according to sources familiar with the negotiations.
The deal, to be finalized in coming weeks, marks a big step forward for Israel's $2.75 billion agreement to buy 19 F-35 jets, which was signed in October 2010 and includes options for up to 75 of the radar-evading fighters....
...Agreement on development of the new Israeli version of the F-35 will allow Israel to install its own radio and datalink systems, as well as other equipment, on the jets it is buying.
But the deal also covers enhancements to the airplane's electronic warfare capabilities that will benefit the United States, Israel and the other nine countries that either have already ordered fighter planes, or plan to in coming years...."
We may see Israeli developed drop tanks also? Always more at the URL. |

| Superb. Both 'sides' have negotiated, we versus ourselves, and the outcome was a winner. Someday somebody will realize what self-serving jerks our so-called representatives are. They have sold the farm. Cheers. |

| Who knows, with the space in the wing edge and the available ICP bay in the rear we may see internal AESA jammers for the F-35 much sooner than we thought. |

For the benefit of the rest of us, could you rephrase this, so that we can understand what point you are making? |

The 'second squadron' for Israel has been mentioned on other threads and here is another reference:
A Second F-35 squadron or Namer APCs July 27, 2012

&?
Amir Rapaport 27/7/2012

"...The Oz Plan
The Halamish plan is being replaced by the Oz plan. What both plans have in common is that both were advanced by IAF persons. Major General Amir Eshel (presently the Air Force Commander), was the driving force behind Halamish, and the discussion on the Oz plan is being advanced by the current head of the Planning Directorate, Major General Nimrod Shefer (formerly the Head of the IAF Staff). Another thing both plans have in common is that both take into account a considerable investment in the acquisition of at least one squadron of F-35 aircraft – which should be supplied to the IAF by Lockheed Martin by 2017 or 2018.
The surprise in Oz is the examination of potentially acquiring a second squadron as well (48 aircraft instead of 24). Lockheed Martin is offering the IAF a "deal" for acquiring the second squadron at a lower price than the first squadron. The General Staff workshop will discuss the option of accepting the proposal..."
A lot of stuff that is irrelevant at the URL. |

Well, duh.
Prices drop the closer you get to mid-FRP |

| I wonder if the Israeli data link is for communicating with the new missiles they plan to use with the F-35? |

Hell, "WE" let them walk right out of Los Alamos with the technical specifications to many of our most advanced warheads and re-entry vehicles. This includes the Trident D-5 and Neutron Bomb designs. Great, I'm glad China has that information.
And from the Cox report:
"China’s stolen information includes specific guidance technology used on US missiles and military aircraft such as the one used on the Tactical Missile System (ATACMS), Stand-off Land Attack Missile Extended Range (slam-er), Naval F-14 fighter, Air Force F-15, F-16 and F-117 fighters. Simply put, the Chinese covert geniuses are sucking the blood of American military technology."
"Officials of the US intelligence admitted that China made about 50 attempts in the late 1990s to get two specific documents and recorded 792 computer-based security incidents in 3 days of which 324 came from outside the US. Direct efforts to obtain scans of vulnerable system and sensitive password files by Chinese hackers allowed them to gain access to the Energy Department computer system that gave them unrestricted right of entry to sensitive data."
More frightening yet, these are just the breeches that have been discovered and also declassified. Think about all the ones we either don't know about or haven't been made public.
“The Chinese didn’t create this problem,” former head of U.S. counterintelligence during the Bush and Obama administrations Joel Brenner says. “But there’s no question China is the worst offender now. They are all over us. They are just relentless… .”
And are we to assume they haven't deeply penetrated Lockheed and the F-22 and F-35 programs as well? Yeah right......anyone want to buy some beachfront property in Arizona?
The Israelis are the least of our worries. We need to protect us from ourselves! |
