The UK received the first international F-35 today, but what about tomorrow? Will the UK be the first international partner to establish a servicable squadron? If so, might they be the first to meet a TU-95 or TU-160 on their bomber escort/ intercept duty? I'm thinking a TU-95 with a "boat load" of elint equipment, specially mounted for their first "Tango"! From flightgobal yesterday:

No UK owned F35 will operate from the UK mainland until 2018.

Highly unlikely thatyour scenario woul happen though, QRA duties are not rotated around bases in the UK, they are firmly established with QRA north at Leuchars (but to move to Lossiemouth when it closes and the fleet moves) and QRA South at Coningsby with both being the two Typhoon main operating bases.
