Thanks for posting the link. I especially enjoyed the T-50 (ROK) demo. Does anyone have any idea how they transported the airplane to Farnborough?

They were shipped by sea. Three departed from Fairford (RIAT) on Monday to Farnborough. It was a solo display while they did the full eight aircraft display at RIAT. A great experience, not just the rare aircraft but the display was perfectly executed and creative or a bit different from other display teams. In my humble opinion, of course.

Many thanks for the information and the link to RIAT. Were you there? I agree the show was unique and very well done. Maybe I told you already, but I worked on the T-50 program in Korea from 2001 - 2005. So seeing the airplanes perform so well gave me a great feeling.

Sorry but this is incorrect,

9 T50's arrived here via a number of Korean Air B747 freighter flights into Manchester airport. The aircraft were then transported by road to RAF Leeming for reassembly and test flying.

The team have performed full displays at RAF Waddington Interational Airshow and RIAT at RAF Fairford. The display at Farnborough is a solo display being sponsored by KAI. There are three aircraft currently at Farnborough, the other 6 are in the process of being disassembled for transport back to Korea.

An absolutely cracking display which is on a par, if not better than the Red Arrows, they would give the Thunderbirds a master class in how to display after burning aircraft!

Yes indeed, vitnessed the display several times both in and outside the base. Pretty awesome having eight of them come in low over your head! Got the impression that these are high performing jets, more like an F-16 'light'. Clearly someone did a good job there. Thumb

Is the landing gear adapted from the F-16 by any chance?

The T-50 trainer is very much like an F-16 Light. 8g instead of 9g, and 1.6 mach instead of 2.0. Flight control is more advanced than F-16, with several refinements to improve accuracy of control, more "carefree" handling qualities, and damage recovery functions. F-16 control law diagrams require one page, T-50 requires at least sixteen pages, as I recall (possibly more).

The landing gear is nothing like the F-16, being designed and built by Messier in France.
