Third party news stating that AASM may be integrated into the F-16s joining an increasingly crowded munitions field.
My comments:
The AASM is a LJDAM-equivalent with a range extension kit to increase range to 50km (high altitude), 15km (low altitude). One sticky issue may be the cost. At ~US$430k, it would be more expensive than the longer-ranged JSOW (~US$315k) and the LJDAM (~$60k). Caution: all cost are estimates.
May appeal to the F-16 crowd that don't get full access to US munitions.
