"Undersecretary for AcquisitionFrank Kendall in a two-page Acquisition Decision Memo yesterday approved proceeding with the next contract for as many as 36 aircraft, including 23 Air Force versions, seven aircraft carrier models and six Marine Corps short-takeoff and vertical-landing models. The contract includes five for international customers."
Yet,
"A fifth contract remains under negotiation. Kendall wrote that his decision for the sixth contract going forward was contingent on him receiving an update on a “recommended agreement” for the fifth contract."

Currently we have LRIP 7 (30+ aircraft) approved with the first modification adding two additional aircraft for Norway. |

Just wondering... what did the infamous LRIP IV F-35A end up costing in final Total Procurement?
It was the dramatic cost-negotiated year in which to keep the F-35 program fundamentally credible, and presumably able to keep costs sufficiently managed to placate foreign partnership governments and to better keep forward looking costs in line with advertised projections... if one remembers? |

Todate LRIP 4 with 13 modifications totals; $5,776,260,303.00 for 32 a/c and other equipment and charges. In Dec 2010; A-11@ $111 million each, B-17@ $109 million each, C-4@ $142 million each; total of $3,642,000,017.00. Looking at the original order and the 13 modifications, there is a lot of charges for the JSF program beyond the 32 a/c in the $5.8 billion. This yields a $2,134,260,286.00 delta of the "incidentals" |
