An article from Janes's:
Quote:
Chinese missile may be for Pakistan's F-16s - 23 April 2004
China is about to bring a second beyond-visual-range (BVR) air-to-air missile (AAM) to the export market. The new weapon, to be known as the FD-60, is already in service with the People's Liberation Army Air Force as the PL-11.
Pakistan F-16s are to be fielded with China made BVR missiles FD-60 (PL-11) or SD-10 (PL-12). I'm wondering if there is any updates on the mentioned?
cheers, |

hi Roscoe, I am sure the challenge is great. However, technically, PL-11 & PL-12 were orignated from Italian Aspide, which was designed from the AIM-7. PL-12 is understand to be a marriage of Apside technology and the R-77 seeker. In addition, (without going into political prespective) China and Pakistan do share a good relationship in the development of JF-17. Perhaps, the challenge could be resolved after all.
cheers, |
