To keep things organized (so you don't reply to old posts), I'll start updating this post as things change. The latest post is at the bottom.
----------------------Jan 06, 2005 - 11:21 AM----------------------
It's been quite a while (at least a year?) since my last video. Heck, that's easy enough to find out... *checks creation date of last video*... Yeah. 11/2/2003. I think it's time for a new video.
I've done a few in-between jobs in Premiere since then, so I've learned several new things. So if there was anything missing in my last videos (see http://www.falconsys.net/f16 - the .wmv ones are the best, and 2ndSE is a work-in-progress that never got finished, so it's better than the 2nd, but slightly incomplete), it will look a whole lot better in this one.
This time... instead of getting frustrated trying to locate clips for this, trying to find a decent song (that's not too hard, really), figuring out what to name it, etc... I'll just ask the forum.
Figured this isn't really off-topic... it is a strictly F-16-related video I'm working on, so it should go in this forum... but it's right there in the gray area so I'm not sure.
I need...- The name of a good song to use (it's a music video). Preferrably something... "fast". Because F-16s are not opera.
- Video sources. I've got DSL, so don't worry about giving me links to 2gb videos. I'll download it in an hour.
- Well, a pilot would be nice = I've got to know if it looks right.
- A title, something involving the "4th". I'm very skeptical about the title I came up with for the 3rd, "third in formation", since I don't know ANYTHING about flying - especially not formations! So I don't know if I made a major no-no on that last one. Better if I leave it to the pros.
So what do you think?
----------------------Jan 19, 2005 - 08:41 AM----------------------
The video is in the works right now... having all kinds of fun with it. As with my other videos, showing the previews to people just starts a wave of "Ooh! Aah!" all over the place... that's what makes this so fun!
The song is Thousand Foor Krutch - Rawkfist. It had been done in a video before, so I'm trying to make this one bigger and better than the first one. How couldn't I?
The previews are here:
http://www.falconsys.net/f16/f16-4th-pre-256kbps.wmv <-- 256kbps, for dialup users (download it)
http://public.caservers.net/f16-4th-pre-1mbps.wmv <-- 1mbps, for broadband users (thanks to neoca.net for hosting this)
----------------------Jan 19, 2005 - 06:09 PM----------------------
Changed link for broadband one... for those of you getting 404 errors, give it another try! |

Wow yeah, that Symphony of Destruction sounds great. At least, the title does.
Gotta look for the lyrics because I can't understand a word they say, but I think I hear "my viper"?...
Quote:
(Chorus)
Just like the Pied Piper
Led rats through the streets
We dance like marionettes,
Swaying to the Symphony
Of Destruction
Meh... close enough.
Length: 4 minutes?? Wow... that's a little much to ask!
I dunno... that title is REALLY nice. Nice title for a (music) video, but unfortunately it's already taken by a song...
Alice Cooper - Poison
Somehow, I can't seem to put a video together in my head for this one. Usually I can visualize what kind of video clip I'd like for whatever part of the song I'm listening to. One that comes all together as I listen to it is a perfect song for a video... this one just doesn't have it... =\
But it is definately a great song
Length: 4:28... Ouch. Gotta keep in mind that TATU's "Not Gonna Get Us" (#3) flick was too long, and was cut off (at a good part in the middle)... and I think that was only a 3:30-song... too much video to make, it starts dragging on...
The Rolling Stones - Gimme Shelter
Hmm... sadly, I can't see this one in a video either. Just doesn't go together right. Seems too much like an "ambience" song. No "foreground/background" seperation, it's like it's all one continuous sound... way too hard to work with...
Length: 4:37... WOW. Way too long too... =\
The Rolling Stones - Paint It Black
Hey, I remember hearing this one on a record I was playing around with a few years ago.
As for a music video to that... I might need to find a remix of it. Seems to have great potential (better than the others), but it just seems too awkward... =\
Length: 3:51... that's a little better, but still way longer than my other videos...
Van Halen - Dreams
Nice lyrics...
Quote:
reach for the sky
baby, just spread your wings
We'll get higher and higher
straight up we'll climb
we'll get higher and higher
leave it all behind
Maybe it's just not the music I'm used to or something... but I keep drawing blanks. Not sure about this one. Has more potential than even the last one, and I'm still checking out the other song candidates ("acquiring" them as I type this), so we'll see
Length: 4:54... I guess not!
Sammy Hagar - I Can't Drive 55
Who could forget this song? Simply a classic. That one will definately be in my "Probaby-Will-Do" stack. Sounds great, and with a little more thought power than usual, I can actually put some concepts, at least, to this music. Nice.
Length: 4:10... a big stretch!
Metallica - Don't Tread on Me
Man, this one is being a pain in the butt to "acquire"... but I think I finally got it. That's why it came last in this list... took that long to find!
From the first 44 seconds (all I can hear at the moment), it seems... I'm not sure. Maybe. Not really good, but not bad.
Length: 4:00 - more "doable" than most, it seems... but still twice as long as I'd hoped a song would be...
Guns and Roses - Welcome to the Jungle
Hmm... same comment as Gimme Shelter... that, and it's...
Length: 4:33 - just way too long.
Metallica - Fuel
Interesting. Definately got the "uumph" a video like this needs...
Is there a music video for this one I can mix with the F-16 footage - like I did with "Faint" (#2)? That might help move this one into the "Will-Do" stack. Sounds good enough from what I can hear (the first minute)...
Length: 4:25
Any more suggestions? Thanks for those, too, by the way! |

I'll try to think of more, but I wanted to give you the lyrics to "Don't Tread on Me" in case you haven't heard them yet. The lyrics are the main reason I thought of this song, but I like the music, too!
Quote:
Don't Tread On Me
Liberty or death, what we so proudly hail
once you provoke her, rattling of her tail
never begins it, never, but once engaged...
never surrenders, showing the fangs of rage
don't tread on me
so be it
threaten no more
to secure peace is to prepare for war
so be it
settle the score
touch me again for the words that you'll hear evermore...
don't tread on me
love it or leave it, she with the deadly bite
quick is the blue tongue, forked as lighting strike
shining with brightness, always on surveillance
the eyes, they never close, emblem of vigilance
don't tread on me
so be it
threaten no more
to secure peace is to prepare for war
so be it
settle the score
touch me again for the words that you'll hear evermore...
don't tread on me
so be it
threaten no more
to secure peace is to prepare for war
liberty or death, what we so proudly hail
once you provoke her, rattling on her tail
so be it
threaten no more
to secure peace is to prepare for war
so be it
settle the score
touch me again for the words that you'll hear evermore...
don't tread on me
Like I said, I'll try to think of more later! Have fun and good luck!!! |

| Just don't use VanHalen, man 'cause it was already used by the band itself as an aircraft video. In the original video Blue Angels are flying on SkyHawks there - seems good! |

Iron Maiden - Aces High [is about spitfires :s]
Drowning pool - Let the bodies hit the floor
Metallica - Fuel [already posted i see]
Mötorhead - Time To Play The Game
Manowar - fight until we die
Megadeth - The World Needs a Hero
I think these are all pretty good songs for a music video,
they have pretty good lyrics, aren't slow, and somehow express power in my opinion
As for some video's, I advice this site, as I don't know much video sites:

Premiere... 100% Adobe Premiere 6.5. Premiere "Pro" won't run on any computer I have (requires some far-out-there crap like SSE2 that none of my CPUs have), and After Effects is just too complicated. The most notable feature of Premiere is the live A/V sampling as you move the position bar across the timeline. I can hear exactly what frame I want to start a clip at.
Timmer: I'll check out those songs and post my response in a few minutes.
By the way, are any of you guys pilots?
(Seriously... I'd like some input on this from one... ) |

I was going to put my incentive flight footage to Motley Crue's "Shout at the Devil. The begining of the song had this great drawn out drum beat to alternate short clips of all the preflight stuff until the song kicks in and goes right into the flight itself. I think it would have turned out cool, if I hadn't misplaced the tape. Oh well, i'm sure i'll have another shot at before I retire.

Okay... I've decided to go with "Rawkfist". Totally kickass song.
I should, however, have noted... "songs you did NOT hear in another video"... 'cuz that just makes it look like I'm ripping off someone else's video or something. Not cool...
http://www.f-16.net/f-16_forum_viewtopic-t-1705.html
I'll just go way above and beyond like I usually do.
Stay tuned for a "teaser" preview in about an hour.
edit:
Geez, you guys are quiet tonight! Cut that out!
Anyway, got a long day tomorrow, so I've got to get some sleep. But I did throw together what should be the first 7 seconds of the video... in as high quality as you could ever expect from a video...
