Sweetman has stated that Typhoon is a better approach than F-22 because limited X-band forward sector LO is effective and affordable while the F-22's VLO is not affordable. Then it turns out that a Typhoon costs about 2/3rds of an F-22 for so much less. Of course he doesn't own up to hi stupidity, he just goes on to the F-35.

He has stated that Rafale is a better plane for Canada than F-35 because Rafale has a more balanced approach to survivability.

The guy is a fanboy and a tool and I boycott Av Week because they employ him.

Ah Sweetman . . ever more desperate, ever more weird, ever more worthy of being ignored.

He dug his hole so he can enjoy feeding at the bottom.

F-35 Pilots and the F-35: A Discussion at Farnbourgh Air Show 2012
by SldInfo.com 26 July 2012

http://vimeo.com/46435390

"An overview of the F-35 program from the standpoint of the pilots in the program is provided in the videotape of the session at the Air Show on July 10, 2011

As readers of Second Line of Defense know, we have spent considerable time with F-35 test pilots and F-22 pilots.

We have as well interviewed Colonel Arthur Tomassetti who was one of the panelists.

He is the vice commander of the 33rd Fighter Wing, Air Education and Training Command, Eglin Air Force Base, Fla. The 33rd Fighter Wing serves as the home to the Joint Strike Fighter Integrated Training Center, providing pilot and maintenance training for nine international partners.

In the video, the pilots discuss the aircraft and its performance. It is fifth generation in more ways than its stealth characteristics; as we observed aboard the USS Wasp a F-18 pilot in landing the B stated that “this is the easiest aircraft to fly I have ever been in.”"

F-35 Pilots at Farnbourgh Air Show 2012-07-26

http://www.sldinfo.com/f-35-pilots-at-f ... -air-show/

" An overview of the F-35 program from the standpoint of the pilots in the program is provided in the videotape of the session at the Air Show on July 10, 2011...

...[Skaff] "...let computers do what computers do best and let pilots do what pilots do best.

Computers can do algorithmic functions extremely well and fast. Pilots do heuristic ‘thinking’ very well, but only when they have time to do it. We’ve got to return time to the pilot.”

And so with that philosophy, we wanted to make sure that the airplane gave the pilot situational awareness and a manageable workload...."

Best to read the full quote at the URL.

SLDinfo needs a 'proofreader' spellchecker IMHO. Farnborough is spelt that way but pronounced as spelt by SLDinfo - sort of - their spelling is 'Farnbourgh'. Funny english thing. Much the same as youse funny Yank way of pronouncing 'Colarada' for Colorado for example. My way of pronunciation in Oz would be 'FarnBrah' but then an English yobbo would laff at me. Very Happy

Ran into a similar thing in Massachusetts. Leominster is pronounced Lemon-ster and Worcester as Wuss-ta. Razz

And when you get over into Rhode Island (which is not an island) lots of words that end in R are pronounced like they end in AH, and then because lots of unused R's are floating around instead of wasting them they throw them into words that don't have them, like 'drawer a line'. Wink I was constantly amazed by their pronunciation.

The F-22 is the lowest RCS of any fighter on the planet. The newer RAM used on the F/A-18E/F is relatively easy to maintain. Hopefully the RAM on the F-35 will be economical to main as well.

The Rafale doesn't have EA capabilty in its AESA or integrated target FLIR or EODAS. It does have internal IRST without targetting.

Every publication has some crappy writers, there's significant good articles on Av Week worth reading.

"...Hopefully the RAM on the F-35 will be economical to main as well...." 'neurotech' hopes. No problemo according to many briefings and statements about the RAM. Plenty of material on this forum about it. The aircraft skin has to be damaged to slightly affect LO (depending on the damage of course). Otherwise good as.... Very Happy Bro.

F-35 RAM designed for easy maintenance aboard flat decks at sea - unlike the F-22 situation.
