I'm a bit perturbed by all the complaining that the United States isn't doing enough. Aid will be provided on a larger scale but no country is going to say that their going to fund an excessive amount of money until they can assess the situation. Folks still complaining about 350 million. Oh, it will be more for sure. In addition, the press and many others don't realize the expense to send a naval force, it's helicopters, and other airlift. Take those numbers and add it to the monetary aid. No country will compare! Again, big brother gets sh%t on...........

The world should be so lucky!

I could go on about the UN ad nauseum, but I'll save that for later... Now about not being taxed enough Shocked ? Of course we're not! Put yourself in his shoes - IT'S NOT HIS MONEY Evil or Very Mad !!! HE WANTS TO SPEND MORE ON HIS AGENDA!!! Oh yeah, take a look at another quality UN program - Oil For Food Mad ! How many BILLIONS were siphoned off into numbered accounts??? So let's see here, we're not taxed enough Confused ? Sounds like we should give more to the UN to line more pockets Evil or Very Mad !!!

I think Bush should tell the UN were to go and what to do with themselves when they get there. Twisted Evil

BTW. Where are the big mouths in France, Germany and Russia now. They certainly had alot to talk about on Iraqi Freedom, but they are silent now.

Where was all the international assistance to Florida last September when 4 hurricanes blew thru? Didn't see UN-painted cargo planes landing with relief supplies, did you? No cargo ships anchored off Miami Beach with bellies full of care packages, as far as I know.

It's funny......when 100,000+ are killed by a natural disaster, the UN's "usual suspects" bitch at America for not acting fast enough and/or spending enough to assuage the suffering. Yet when America (and our stalwart allies) act to save a nation from a man-made disaster (Saddam Hussein - 300,000+ and still counting...ALL OF THEM MUSLIMS) it's an illegal act because the UN didn't sign off on it (for about 21 billion reasons....all of them green with dead American presidents on the front).

At last count, the total amount pledged for South Pacific relief and aid from about a half-dozen Mid-East nations (including Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and the UAE) added up to no more than $50 million. I suppose this is the kind of help the South Pacific's Muslims can count on from their brothers-and-sisters-in-Allah abroad.

There's gonna come a time when something like this happens again and America is just gonna go "why bother if we're just gonna get kicked in the teeth?"...but about a half-second later will look itself in the mirror and ask "What are you waiting for? Go help 'em!", because it's just who we are. We don't pour forth the bounty of American generosity on these occasions lookin' for something in return (although a big, fat, and very public THANKS would be nice from time to time). We do it because we know in our hearts it's the right thing to do, regardless of who the victim is. We did it in Bam, Iran. We're doin' in the South Pacific. And we're leading the way because any effort less than that would be unthinkable to us as a nation.

Oh man dont even make me start. The worste is the bleeding hard hippie hinded democrats trying to invoke this as another failure of the Bush administration. In one of my classes (a class on middle eastern history) someone decided to go ahead and comment on our releif aid being poor. "Why should others live in misery why we live in comfort?" I reminded him noone was holding him back from donating his comfort himself, and felt the need to point out on him that the thousands of people that made the abercombie t-shirt he was wearing now are prolly drowned dead at the bottom of the Indian ocean by now. Not another word out of him.

Dont even get me started on what a joke the UN is. I meen, lets be clear, 40% of the UN is the US. We syphen more money into that orginization than the other veto powers do combined. I would not be dissapointed at all if the US pulled out of the UN. Like its predicessor the League of Nations, the UN too is just going to fall apart and have everyone laughing at it.
