Speakin of wines and booze in general, can anyone shed me some light on the origins and significance of the popular fighter pilot brew, the Jeremiah Weed ? Heard its one of the best known drinks in the aviation community.

Ok Razor (and everyone else who may be interested) you've come to the right place! Jeremiah Weed is a 100 proof (read that, 50% alcohol) bourbon whiskey. It is a very well known drink, at least amongst the USAF circle, however, seeing as you are from Singapore, I would assume it has found its way to other countries' air forces as well. Here is the true story of Jeremiah Weed, as told by an old friend of mine, retired USAF Col. C.R. "Dick" Anderegg. He is currently the head USAF historian. Check out his book "Sierra Hotel" if you get the chance.

Parrothead, you may be in luck. I seem to recall an off-strip liquor emporium in Vegas, that stocks pretty much anything you can think of. I don't live in Vega$, I only dump some of my life savings into the casinos from time to time, so I don't recall the name. I have a couple bros in Lost Wages that could probably help us both out. I'll do some digging and let you know what I find. If all else fails, you can order Jeremiah Weed on the internet! Check www.bevmo.com

| I have Dick Anderegg's account of the Weed Legend in a Word Document. If you'd like a copy of it Just let me know, and I'll e-mail it. That being said, I can vouch for the story--I was in the Nellis Club (the old one) the night Joe Bob and Nort introduced it. |

| I used to be a regular and abundant consumer, but my advanced age and cardiologist have combined to limit me to the occasional taste on "special" occasions. |

Yeah, and it still tastes like ____.... "like a heater to the chest...."
warm, cold... Its one drink that you will never sit at home during a game and say "hmmm... I think I'll have some weed on the rocks.." UNLESS someone challenges you to it...
"YEAH....that's SMOOOOOTH"

I haven't had a chance to try Jeremiah Weed yet. Is it really as bad as Bacardi 151? I can down that stuff straight without any real problems . A triple shot of 151 is a great way to start a party ! |
