Good thing you clarified the use of that acronym Joe since it is the same acronym for the CETS (Common Engine Transfer System) and in my short 12 years of flightline maintenance, I never heard any of the GE, Boeing, or Lockheed guys every refer to them as that nor seen any placard saying that also. Learned something new today.
In the end, it seemed to be more of a "understanding the system" question which he was pointed in the direction of the Trending Analysis Book for the referecnce on the how the WOW plays in the system. And also gave him a good POC for this issue in Kunsan since he is up at Osan. And unfortunately, the GE rep for the ROK is in Misawa. We've discussed how this issue was plaguing the F101's before started ordering rounds of grape Soju!!
Relax, all I did was give him a little understanding of the fault on the system from having dealt with it for so long and finally leaving the -16 washing my hands of it. I would never advise anyone to go outside the channels for info. So he got pointed in the right direction. But hey, everyone on the ROK knows, whenever these's an issue, Kunsan calls Osan and vise versa. |

Hey Mush, thanks for the comment. With the drastic cuts in personnel and Tech Reps, lots of stuff like crosstalk has gone by the wayside, and today's maintainers are the victims.
Using all resources available is a good idea, but I still strongly advocate getting CETS and AFETS involved. Flightline maintainers don't usually have the time to follow up on stuff that requires contact with the OEM or vendor, but CETS and AFETS do. That's their job.
Best Regards, |
