Or as [Link pending approval] put it, 57 years after the Brits first landed a jet on a carrier. This is just a tiny step in the right direction, it'll take a decade or two to have a coherent naval air arm.

And they've only got the one boat, so far. How many do we have? 10? With a new class (Ford) soon to come out? Gotta start somewhere I guess.

Eleven of last count, nine of which are constantly at sea, not including the 20ish Marine flattops.

I was more impressed with the deck-crew's activity than anything else. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q2LSmpqAZ74 Seems pretty obvious that they've adopted the US operational model in spite of the Russian planes and the Russian boat.
