| I've noticed at airshows that the TE flaps retract after shutdown and extend after start (Besides the BIT). Is this a default/automatic change?...or is it a pilot selection? |

| Also, the TEF ISA’s have a spring incorporated in them so that when hydro pressure is approaching or below 500 psi they will auto retract. (That is why they and stabs pop up on shut down) With the Alt Flap switch in NORM the TEF work with gear handle then airspeed. With Alt flap switch in extend, the TE flaps work by airspeed alone. |

Hey thanks...that makes sense.
It may make sense but that's not what is happening. On shutdown, the gear handle down signal to the FLCS goes away before the hydraulic pressure decreases. |

So you're saying on shutdown that the FLCS defaults to 'gear up' mode and commands TEF retraction while hyd pressure is still available. Right?
If MAIN PWR was selected OFF immediatley after idle cutoff, would the TEFs still retract? (Would the FLCS still be able to command a retraction?) |

Yes. The loss of the gear down signal from the gear handle occurs at a higher engine rpm than the loss of hydraulic pressure.

MAIN PWR switch to OFF would also shut down the FLCS, so the FLCS wouldn't command retraction; but, the TEF's would move to 1.5 degrees trailing edge up. That's the center position for the flaperon ISA and that's where the surface goes when electrical commands are lost but hydraulic pressure is still available. |
