| Are there any significant differences between the export and domestic versions of the F-35 besides ECM? I think I read somewhere that the level of stealth for the export models will be a little less. I'm guessing this is because the US model will have different RAM coatings that are not cleared for export? Will the radar resolution be the same? I know that the radars for export model F-15s have 1/3 the resolution of their domestic counterparts.... |

| There are no differences whatsoever between A versions except for customer driven customizations. |

| I don't find myself entirely believing that, but I suspect that the US will be the first to field new upgrades, blocks, and variants as they develop. The F-35As will probably start more or less the same, but diverge from there over time. |

No sir, there is no dfiference. Suppose wishfull thinking, but not reality.
You really think there would have been any country joining the JSF project when this would have been the case? Doesn't make scense even to think so.
Think of this ... you really think the British and Dutch IOT&E F35's are different from the US IOT&E F35's?
Theoretically it's even possible a British or Dutch F35 will be flown for month's by a US pilot and a British or Dutch pilot will fly for month's in a US F35.
The F35 will be used in a common pool, spares in a comon pool, maintenance personnel from the nationalities will maintain them as well in the IOT$E phase. |

Ah.. the old "F-35 international/export version" refuses to die...
Boeing actually got rebuked by the AF for their gimmickry,IIRC.

According to Boeing, the special radar absorbing coatings offer an equivalent amount of front-aspect stealth that modern 5th generation fighters. This sounds nice, but not too specific. Boeing remains a bit unclear in this topic to say the least: in 2009 they claimed to have the same amount of stealth that Lockheed Martin's F-35 JSF offers, but in 2010 they softened their statement somewhat by saying that the Silent Eagle offers the same level of front-aspect stealth than the "international release version" of the JSF, but Lockheed Martin officials denied even the very existence of such international release standards. |

To have different versions for US and export markets would run counter to the efficiencies the program is intended to achieve in terms of an integrated shared logistics architecture.

That's the sliver that the F35 conspiracy crowd use to drive their wedge.
"So, does the Canadian F35A have the *exact* same RCS as the US one?"
"Uh, well, mostly but there's this in flight refuelling probe that they..."
"AHAH!"
etc... |
