| Maybe you are speaking of someone else, but Col. Stapp's sled acceleration runs were in the forward and aft axis, not vertical. |

Thanks for posting the Youtube link. None of the tests shown generates negative vertical g. Some have positive and negative fore and aft g and some have positive vertical g, but none showed negative vertical g. Since I had seen only the sled runs before, I was interested to see the pendulum test (negative fore and aft g) and the upward ejection test (positive vertical g).
Since I don't have access to all the tests, there still may have been some that generated negative vertical g I don't know about. |

| Well, given that forward flip looked several times as quick as any "Hi G" maneuver I've ever seen, I would think it would be closer to 30 -Gs. |

but it is just a dive that you cause a forward flip is it not? with vector thrust to control the flip why not. the F-22 can do a back flip! |

@medic: What Count is saying is that regardless of what the plane can do, the pilot won't be able to handle the Gs. And if that pushover was 30 Gs, he's absolutely right.
Aircraft cockpits are generally designed to handle positive G IIRC, and that's why you always see them pulling up and not down in dogfights. Plus, fighters are generally designed to pull up better than down for agility (thats one of the reasons the Raptor has canted tails). |
