Now all you need is to trick the bad guys into assembling on the foam in a pit under the aircraft.

And I see orange wires attached to the bomb, which, in the picture, have gone sort of question-mark-shaped with the slack as the bomb moved downward. What are they for? If they're to transmit data from sensors on/in the bomb, what data could they be after from the bomb?
Orange wires are of course indicative of flight test equipment. Those wires are attached to vertical accelerometers at the nose and tail of the bomb. You can see a little orange block near the nose of the bomb, which contains the acceleromter. The accelerations measured during the drop are integrated to give forward and aft velocity, which result in cg velocity and pitch rate. Velocity and pitch rate are critical in verifying the safety of an in-flight drop. If an unsafe condition is indicated, the ejector thruster forces can be adjusted until a safe ejection is assured.
High speed video can also be used to obtain the necessary data and may have also been used for the pit drop tests. |

IIRC, Lockheed is offering a Slim Pickins bomb rider doll as an option. The pilot will hear "Yee-haa!" in their headphones at bomb ejection and another just before impact. |

| At least now the people who've been saying F-35s are a failure because they "have yet to drop a single bomb" will have to retract everything they've ever said which depended on that... right? |

| Nope. They'll just move on to the next point of contention they've made that has resulted from the most inaccurate of assessments. |

I doubt it, you see they haven't dropped a bomb in combat and therefore they haven't really proven a thing.
Unlike of course the SU-XXXX which although admittedly it hasn't dropped a bomb either, is still like completely awesome according to Rosboronexport (who I believe completely) and I've been told outmatches the Tier 2 JSF in every cardinal aspect.
Therefore F-35 still sux.

Don't forget the "I can shoot down the F-35 every time in the Flanker on BF3, so clearly it sucks". |

We can just attribute that to our society's becoming obsessed with electronics and the false perception that games and TV = reality. It's idiotic, worrying, and dangerous. I also find it terrifying to think that someday the generation I have to explain basic math to in high school will someday be the generation running (or ruining) the world. As a humble prospective Beagle driver, I can just hope that the worst of the bunch eliminate themselves from the gene pool (read: Darwin Awards) and that the remainder wise up quickly. |
