So far no fatal injuries to the pilots or any personel on the ground. Hope it says that way.

Saw the pics in the other thread showing it looking like one engine failed. How much thrust is needed to keep the bird flying? If the plane goes down if an engine fails, then whats the point of having 2? I guess...thats why the 35 has only one engine...

Hornets can fly just fine with one engine out. It would have to be a pretty serious malfunction on top of an engine malfunction. Maybe it had a hydraulic failure or somthing of that nature, as that also warrants an engine shut down. That is pure speculation though.

The Canadian Demo jet that crashed some time ago was doing a high Alpha pass when it appeared he lost one engine. Not enough speed, altitude, or rudder authority to recover. Not saying that was the case here but it may explain the asymmetric nozzles in one photo.
