The advantage of computing this out of Denver is you have 5300 feet less of thick air to climb thru than from a sea level aerodrome.

Better option as far as seeing the girlfriend on the weekend, if one plans properly.

Once you negotiate the sometimes lengthy amount of time spent on the runway at 5000' elev to get airborne and stagger off, eventually then the 'circles' on the colorful chart are actually larger than the range 'circles' after a relatively relaxed takeoff from sea level.

The fuel used climbing from, say 5000 feet to 25,000 feet, is some indeterminate quantity less, depending on the specific aircraft, than that used climbing from sea level to 25,000 feet. Leaving more fuel for range.

If the clever creators of that chart actually used this factor to create those circles than I would guess you could add maybe another 50 NM to the combat radius out of DEN compared to that out of Eglin.

My question would be...

What's an aircraft carrier doing at 5500' MSL? Shocked

back in late 1972 early 1973 as an Oz Nasal Radiator I wondered what I was doing in the snow at Lowry AFB just outside the mile high city. Was good to get back to sea level and the coast at San Diego eventually - smell that salt sea air. Very Happy
